ITHACA -- The extent of the resulting damage and the use of blood at a protest will lead to four demonstrators being tried in Tompkins County Court.
The grand jury handed up the indictment for Daniel Burns, 42, Peter DeMott, 56, Teresa Grady, 37, and Clare Grady, 44, on July 1 on the charge of second-degree criminal mischief.

Deciding to spend six days in jail rather than pay a $100 fine indicates to me that probably none of these people have jobs. I would gather that their rights in this country include the right to sponge off the taxpayer.

Teresa Grady said Wednesday the four defendants would represent themselves throughout the trial.I hope they enjoy themselves, because this little bit of playacting is gonna cost them.

Y'know, they should be introduced to those fine fellows recently picked up in Horseheads...

Teresa Grady said Wednesday the four defendants would represent themselves throughout the trial.Four would be lawyers with fools for clients.
I imagine the transcripts will be quite enlightening.

These clowns think they are the Chicago Seven or something, and plan to spend their trial trying to bring in "evidence" of US foreign policy, etc.
A competent and fair judge will shut them down quick. Unfortunately, both Judges in Tompkins County are, of course, registered democrats.
So we'll see...

Teresa Grady and Clare Grady poured their own blood on an American flag...Sounds like a biological attack to me...

Remember the case in Texas recently where an inmate spit in a corrections official's face and now faces a life sentence because that is the penalty for attacking someone with a bodily fluid? I would love it if the judge or prosecutor were able to pull out some New York or county law to the same effect. The judge could return from his/her chambers dressed in Torquemadian regalia to announce the life sentence, and the four little pukes could turn to each other or the courtroom cameras and exclaim they DIDN'T EXPECT THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!!

Oh, I think they've got jobs. They're professional protestors. Have cause, will violate the law.

You notice the ages of these clowns? I expected them to be half this age.
I'm starting to get the impression that the entire anti-war movement is being sparked by a small group of 1960s burnouts trying to relive 'the glory days.'
To: Behind Liberal Lines
It's too bad they're not being charged with the 10-year felony of interfering with recruiting for the Armed Forces during wartime.

Property at the office was allegedly damaged when Teresa Grady and Clare Grady poured their own blood on an American flag, and the interior and exterior of the office. "I look forward to the trial and having all the jury understand and hear all the facts and what it means to have freedom of speech," Teresa Grady said.
I missed the part in the Constitution where it said pouring blood on flags and offices was free speech. Can't wait until Teresa "educates" the jury.

Unfortunately, you can pour blood on your OWN flag. Doing it on someone else's is illegal. Hope a determined prosecutor crushes these arrogant twerps.
