You really believe that the Recall campaign would not be successful unless Issa had kicked in some dough? tsk tsk :-)
It may have meant not getting all the signatures in until the end of August, but don't discount the level of discontent felt statewide with the goons who run Sacramento.
If nothing else, I give Issa credit for reading the winds and getting his sail up before the rest of the party showed up.

Well DiFi won't be up for re-election until '06. We have to KNOCKOUT BOXER next in '04. I am promoting Chris Cox to take care of Boxer. Check this out. KNOCKOUT BOXER! VOTE FOR COX!

Issa's a good guy, but he's not going to win by attacking Bill Simon.

Issa has the right idea IMO, when he asked the state GOP to hold a convention this Summer for the purpose of rallying behind a single candidate -- I just hope that should that happen, the delegates won't get sold out by the greed of Sal Russo!

RE: "You really believe that the Recall campaign would not be successful unless Issa had kicked in some dough? tsk tsk :-)" Look at the facts -- the Recall campaign had about 100,000 signatures before Issa, and now has over 1,000,000.
Also consider the importance of a Fall election, instead of a Spring 2004 Recall (when the Democrats have a Presidential Primary as a lure to the polls).

How about "investing $23 million in payphones right as cellular telephones were taking off" then?
Bill Simon is a moron who needs to FOAD.

You're right- he doesn't need to. Simon is such a bumbling idiot that he'll self destruct.
Also, his campaign is the blind leading the blind. The last time Sal Russo won a California election for a candidate was Reagan 1984.

So the signature gathering was going to take a little longer, I still believe it would have happened.
And frankly, next March vs this fall, I don't buy that assessment.
The overall tendency of the California electorate is headed away from tilting towards the dems and towards conservatives and independents.
But, either way, the media will do all it can to keep its hooks in the voters and lie and distort issues to serve their leftist agendas.
The problem for the media is, the internet and online news sources are proving to be a viable alternative and drawing many away from traditional sources of information and politicking, imo.

How about "investing $23 million in payphones right as cellular telephones were taking off" then? ..and how about all those idiots who boarded the Titanic right before it sank. You and I never would have done that. I guess people were just stupider back then.

Cell phones were an obvious trend.
It would be like getting on the titanic AFTER it hit the iceberg.
Simon sucks.

ehhhhh, I dunno....he's got "clinto..." in his name.,,,
I've had enough of that for one lifetime......

KNOCKOUT BOXER! VOTE FOR COX! Cute slogan.
IMO, however, both Babs and DiFi are entrenched and unbeatable. Except for the vehicle license fee increase, California is a one issue state - abortion.
All a Dem candidate has to say is "I have reservations about the VLF increase however my (Republican) opponent is against a woman's right to choose." He/she will be elected in a heartbeat.

Well, I heard McClintok this morning on KSFO, and he did not sound enthusiastic at all about running. Maybe he's in no position to campaign financially or something.
It sounds like it's a vote which is going to be split a lot of ways. The morning show host, Lee Rodgers, was trying to sound very enthusiastic, but McClintok was not really going along with him.
For me, it all depends on who else is on the ballot. I think that McClintok is the most conservative of the names I have heard, but if it looks like Rear-end would get it or a Democrat then I would reluctantly have to pass on him.

RE: "So the signature gathering was going to take a little longer, I still believe it would have happened." Consider the expenditures for the direct-mail piece to CA Republicans, and all those folks who sat out in the sun at Wal-Marts, Safeway's and Home Depot's across the state.
It was Issa who put over $1 million of his money where his mouth was, and not Bill Simon. Regardless of whom you support, the man deserves credit where the credit is due.
To: research99
And don't forget that Bill Simon even scrimped on his own damn campaign in 2002.
If he had forked over a couple million more dollars, maybe we wouldn't have this problem today.
But then again, he and Sal Russo are both idiots.

Which is why I don't want Arnold to waltz in after everyone else does the dirty work. Issa should accept the fact he has bought a lot of good will, and use that in a run for the Senate. Tom is in touch with the day to day happenings in the state's legislature and has the wherewithal proposal-wise ,and knowledge-wise to right the sinking financial ship.

I didn't catch Tom this morning. That doesn't surprise me if he sounded more noncommittal then in the past. He has a lot on his mind, as do all the legislators. Also, the Recall is in the pre-birthing stages, whether it will survive the birthing process and grow to adulthood is in question if the courts are brought into it, with or without good cause..

Meet Bill.
Hes Rich.
His Daddy was in politics.
So, he decided hed try to too.
He lost.
Bad.
In fact, he ran the worst campaign, well
ever.
He had hundreds of staffers.
He was duped by his consultants into thinking he was Californias great savior.
He had no business in the race. He wasnt ready for the major leagues.
He ran against a guy less popular than lawyers, the IRS, and the French
COMBINED.
And yet he still lost.
It wasnt that anyone voted FOR him because they liked him.
They voted for him because the other guy was Gray Davis.
And yet, he still thinks the people of California might want to give him another chance.
Hes wrong.
Hes thinking that should the Recall qualify, he should run for Governor.
He shouldnt.
Bill Simon should stick to golf.
Because in politics, there are NO MULLIGANS!
See Bill.
See Bill Run.
See Bill cost California Republicans the election
AGAIN!

I would probably agree with you, except that it takes money to establish name recognition and win a campaign, and at this time McClintock has neither. Issa has the money, Schwarzenegger has the name, but Simon has a leech named Sal.
