Two people are dead after an unknown shooter entered the Verizon building at 342 S. Chadbourne Wednesday evening and began firing at a Verizon employee, said San Angelo Police Department Public Information Sgt. Tracy Fincher.
After killing one person, the shooter then killed himself, Fincher said.
The suspect was described over police scanners as a balding, white male, between the ages of 40 and 50 years old, wearing a red shirt and jeans.
Both of the deceased are unidentified white males. No one else was injured, Fincher said.
Police were called to the scene at 7:41 p.m. and were joined by S.W.A.T. and sniper personnel. A one-block perimeter was set up around the building in all directions.
At about 8:15 p.m., about 20 people, including Verizon employees, were escorted out of the building by emergency personnel and taken to a command post at the corner of East Concho and South Oakes.
A S.W.A.T. team has secured the building.
The South Chadbourne building is an "assignment building," where orders are put in for Verizon repair trucks.

Another workplace shooting. You would think there is a major piece of anti-gun legislation up for renewal or something.

Another workplace shooting. You would think there is a major piece of anti-gun legislation up for renewal or something. Should be legislation up. Were the victim armed, or a coworker, perhaps only one dead. Couldn't be any worse.

Sick....(funny as hell)....but sick.

I'm sure special interest groups will start screaming any time now. As usual, Congress will give them everything they want and more because they get caught up in the emotionalism of the calls to "do something". It's still working for Columbine, now it'll work for the latest workplace shootings. Gun-grabbers are waking up and thanking their lucky stars every day now that people are going psycho and killing co-workers in high-profile shooting incidents. /rant off

Wow..I use to work with people at that office. I use to work with the San Angelo Production Support group (for GTEs old MF based Customer Care/Billing system) when I worked for GTE (now Verizon). I worked out of the Tampa office though, but most of the group was in San Angelo. I'm interest in the names of the victim(s)!

In case you haven't noticed: the ducks in a shooting gallery are always unarmed. I'm tempted to pick up a 3x5' sheet of 1/4" steel plate and fashion a crude arm-band shield out of it to wield in my office in case something like this happens here. If I start to hear pops down the hall, at least I could pick it up and hold it between myself and the assailant hoping he'd run out of ammo and have to reload.
Maybe there's a marketing idea in this. Oh, and it would certainly raise awareness. I can see it now: unarmed in the office? Get your CENTURION 2000 today!

Can you hear me now! No, but I can hear the liberals now... "All guns must be banned and gunowners should be tossed into jail"
The sickest part of this is that the deranged psychotic who kills people is not the focus but the gun is to the liberal media.

That's rather inappropriate.... but funny as hell. I wonder if any of them were technical support people. I figure it has to do with the fact that it's summer, it's hot and muggy most of the time, and things slow down when lots of people go on vacation (if they can afford to, given the state of the economy). This gives certain screwed-up individuals even more time to feel sorry for themselves and come up with ways to attract attention to their plight. You wonder if they don't deliberately time these events to coincide with the "silly season". Disturbing to think that there are so many of these people out there though.

I'm beginning to think there is an anti gun conspiracy out there (more than what we already know about)

How about a 1'x3'x1" piece of Lexan? You could keep an eye on the assailant while blocking the bullets?
