We all remember the WTO conference in Seattle back in November 1999 because of the anarchists who rioted in the streets. I remember it because Fidel Castro had been invited to attend. President Clinton was already scheduled to attend, and the White House attempted to arrange a photo-op meeting of these two great world leaders if only.. if only... please God let it happen... if only Mr. Castro Sir would honor the WTO, Seattle, America and President Clinton with his august presence.
Alas, he declined the invitation, causing Seattle's leftist media and city council to nearly burst into tears at the empty spot in their agenda.

Rabinowitz is a big name on the far left. Victor Rabinowitz was a member of the National Lawyers Guild--a Soviet front. He was called to testify before McCarthy. So was Seymour Rabinowitz who worked at the FT. Monmouth Army Radar Lab

Many at that facilty were forced to work in the "Leper Colony" because they were suspected of spying (they had either gone to school with Julius Rosenberg or known Joel Barr and Al Sarant--spies who fled to the Soviet Union when the Rosenberg ring was cracked).

Over the decades, families and extended families have created mythologies about the evil McCarthy. That is the problem.

Dorothy Rabinowitz may not be related to the two men who testified. But she surely knows of them. Or of others. And she knows what their kids and their grandkids have been taught about McCarthy. The myth of innocent victims of a "witch-hunt" must be kept alive.

Wouldn't you like to go back to your Academic "Seat of Learning" & REQUIRE the "so-called-professors" to READ the well-researched History we all studied & REQUIRE them to explain LOGICALLY WHY THEIR interpretation of "the Past" is SO MUCH at "Variance" with the understanding AND DIRECT EXPERIENCE of hundreds of thousands of us who repudiate their understanding of our History.

I DO NOT BELIEVE that those who teach our children "History" can "Reconcile" their Ideologically Driven "Pseudo-Facts" with ACTUAL HISTORICAL FACT!

I didn't say that at all. If you lived in NYC in the early 1950s and were Jewish, you probably knew of people from City College and perhaps someone who worked at Ft. Monmouth. You certainly knew what was going on and that a Catholic, McCarthy, was calling a number of Jews to testify. The Soviets and Europeans were putting out propaganda that Americans were just like the Nazis and going after Jews. That might explain why, as Ann points out, McCarthy's approval rating was 3% among Jews at the time.

That Rabinowitz cites Phillip Loeb as a victim of a witch hunt makes me suspect she either knew him or knows his family. He wasn't a victim. Anymore than Ed Asner or Jeanne Garofalo are victims of their stupid political positions. Americans didn't want to see Loeb on their TV set and told the sponsors that. McCarthy had nothing to do with him losing his job as Rabinowitz intimates.
