(July 9, 2003, 10:50 a.m.) Michigan State Police have issued an all points bulletin for Scott Alan Woodring. If you see him, call the police at 1-800-991-TIPS. Police are asking people to call the number first, and not approach him. State police aren't sure happened to the man who barricaded himself in his home for two days. He is now a wanted fugitive. Police had gone to Woodring's house Sunday to serve him with a felony arrest warrant. After he allegedly fired two shots on Monday, a State Police Emergency Support Team stormed inside resulting in the shooting death of State Police Trooper Kevin Marshall. State police say Woodring was believed to be inside yesterday when they fired a concussion grenade into the house -- which went up in flames a short time later. They're not sure whether the explosive device started the fire, or if he set it. Authorities were unable to find him when they searched the rubble. Two hours after the Tuesday afternoon fire, officials found a backpack filled with food and ammunition about three-quarters of a mile away, said Tracy Pardo, a state police communications officer. A preliminary search of the scene has turned up no evidence of Scott Woodring. A more detailed search is underway, utilizing K-9 units. Police believe he may have left prior to yesterday's 3:30 attempted police entry to the home. Police are forming a task force to search for Woodring. A warrant has been issued for his arrest for open murder and felony firearm charges. That murder charge is in the death of State Trooper Kevin Marshall. A preliminary pathology report from Dr. Cole, a forensic pathologist, reports that Officer Marshall was shot four times by a small caliber, high velocity weapon. Officers on the scene at the time were all carrying larger caliber weapons. A funeral for Officer Marshall will be held Friday, July 11 at St. Anne's Church on Mound Road between 13 and 14 mile Road in Warren, Michigan at 11 a.m. |

Lesson for the State Police. If you are shooting at the perp through the front door, don't forget to watch the back door.
Doh!

Does anybody know what this guy was actually guilty of, before they stormed his home and then blew it up?
I hate to say it, but this is usually the way the authorities treat vast right wing conspirators, tax protestors, or gun nuts. Witness Ruby Ridge and Waco.

A prayer for the trooper and his family.

I'm a little confused by the article. It says that they think he might have left before they stormed the house, but it also says that they want him for murder.
How could he have shot the police officer if he wasn't even there?

The cops tried to peacefully execute an arrest warrant for 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct, which is what started this whole thing.

It is a confusing article. The way I understand it is, the house was stormed on Monday, at that tiime the trooper was shot. They then had a standoff until Tuesday, when they fired the grenade into the house and it burned. I really don't know what to think. It is an odd story.

These guys are a real piece of work.
And from the third story linked above:
After Woodring allegedly fired two shots from the house on Monday afternoon, the State Police Emergency Support Team stormed inside and then withdrew. Marshall, an eight-year state police veteran who served on the team, was shot at that time.
When asked whether Marshall could have been hit by a bullet shot by another officer, state police Inspector Barry Getzen said the matter remained under investigation and authorities would examine evidence to "determine what rounds the officer was hit with."
The State Police assaulted the house, Marshall was shot, then they withdrew.
The State Police fired a concussion grenade into the house, which then went up in flames.
The State Police and local police searched the burned-out remains, but were unable to locate Woodring's body.
And now they're saying that Woodring may have left prior to the the attempted 3:30 assault.
Well, DUH!
Obviously, Woodring wasn't in the house during much of the stand-off, Marshall was shot by a "brother" officer, the fire was started by the concussion grenade and finally, the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team members are complete morons. Worse, actually. They're complete morons who've been issued guns and badges.
How anyone can come to any other conclusion than this is beyond me, but it will be interesting to watch the official cover-up of the State Police EST's professional malfeasence.

Obviously, Woodring wasn't in the house during much of the stand-off, Marshall was shot by a "brother" officerCoroner's already stated that Marshall was hit by small-caliber pistol rounds that didn't match the weapons that the cops were carrying.
Of course, if this dipwad had simply surrendered to begin with, the assault would not have been necessary.

GRAND RAPIDS (NEWS 3) The Michigan State Police trooper who was killed during a standoff in Fremont did not die in friendly fire, police said Wednesday.
Kevin Marshall, a decorated eight-year veteran of the Michigan State Police, died while trying to enter the home of Scott Woodring.
An autopsy on Marshall revealed that he was not killed by fire from another officer, MSP Inspector Barry Getzen said.
It is determined that he was shot four times. The size of the entrance wounds reveal they are consistent with a small caliber, high-velocity round. At the time of the initial assault, all of the officers carried larger-caliber weapons that are inconsistent with the wounds in trooper Marshall.

Coroner's already stated that Marshall was hit by small-caliber pistol rounds that didn't match the weapons that the cops were carrying. Ever heard of a belly gun? Also known as a throw away. I want to know about the dynamics of that entry team and the officer who was shot. Also, this guy was supposedly a "militia" leader. Sounds like it could be a set up from the get go.
The question is not are you paranoid. The question is are you paranoid enough?.

Ever heard of a belly gun? Also known as a throw away.OK, so now you're saying that this cop's brother officers shot him. And that they did so DELIBERATELY.
That's a very nontrivial charge.
Do you have specific evidence to support it?
I want to know about the dynamics of that entry team and the officer who was shot. Also, this guy was supposedly a "militia" leader. Sounds like it could be a set up from the get go.
First, this guy was LONG GONE from the militia.
Second, the cops had a warrant for his arrest on felony criminal sexual conduct, and tried to serve it peaceably.
He barricaded himself and took his wife hostage.
The setup would've bombed if this a$$wipe hadn't resisted arrest.
