I'm all in favor of reparations.

Figure out what is owed in today's cash money. Subtract price paid in blood and property. Then subtract cost of all governmental/tax supported social programs whose existance was based upon the inequality that the slavery legacy contributed to.

I think it's a wash.

Hey, I`m classified as white, but I am sort of dark skinned and I`m sure it`s because I had a black great great great great great grandfather. So when do I get my resperation monies? My white friend Sal who was born in Africa and moved to America 3 years ago, does he get the restoration money too? After all he`s an African American. And what about the Native Americans who live on reservations on long island who look 100% black now, do they get their restitution monies too? Anyway, forget that, where is my damn donations?

Nah......Reparations should be in the form of a 50 year abatement on the paying of federal witholding/income tax on wages. That's the real reason whitey got a jump. Only whitey got a full century plus. Time to buy businesses, educate kids, purchase real property, make investments etc...without the government confiscating it all.

After 50 years, direct decendants of slaves will start another war that whitey is too chicken to start once they have to begin paying income taxes again.

The blacks can start the next war of independence.

It'll come to you in the more ethereal form of higher national debt (meaning higher taxes you have to pay at some point), lost opportunities for you and your children, special benefits for 'those people' that won't be available to 'your people', tax credits for them and not for you, etc.

I have a distant relative who was burned to death in a steam explosion aboard the USS Mound City (a Union river ironclad), when a Confederate shot penetrated the steam drum. This happened in a war to free slaves and now the freed slaves great-great-great grandchildren owe ME cash.

My idea of the worst crime in world history was the Axis powers aggression in WW II. Thirty million died in that conflict. Second and third worst would have to go to Russian and Chinese purges and executions. Slavery comes in far lower on the totem pole than genocide. There would even be a good argument for abortion in the United States being right up there in numbers of genocide.
