This is a fun article, almost good enough to be rated as a "Steyn." The article is valuable, however, in looking under the hood to see how the Index is manufactured. This is a very simple process, based on publicly available numbers. The writer does find a couple examples of junk science in this Index.

Good grief, what's up with Canada, anyway? All this whining and bellyaching over some useless, obscure, totally arbitrary ranking from the freakin' UN! They rerally need to get a grip up there.
