Victory in CA! - AB50 is dead for this year!

FCSPI Email Alert Victory in CA!

Thanks to a last ditch effort by FCSPI and a team of pro-gun leaders, AB-50, California's 50 caliber ban was defeated today in the Senate Public Safety Committee. FCSPI President John Burtt traveled to Sacramento to testify and was joined by the NRA's Ed Worley, California Rifle and Pistol Association's Jerry Upholt, Gun Owners of California's Sam Paredes and Safari Club's Kathy Lynch.

AB-50 had been pulled from last week's committee schedule and in the interim, FCSPI presented Committee members with documented expert testimonials that dispelled the ridiculous anti-gun myths put forth by the backers of the 50 ban. The bill was heard today in Committee and defeated. It is effectively dead for this session, although we expect anti-gun forces to try again next year.

Supporters in California should take the time to thank two Senators whose votes were very important to this victory. Committee Chairman Senator Bruce McPherson (R-15) and Committee Vice-Chair John Vasconcellos (D-13) both took the time to hear the credible testimony and evidence put forth by FCSPI and cast votes that allowed the bill to die in Committee. You can find their contact info at www.sen.ca.gov - be sure to take the time to thank them.

On Friday, FCSPI will be announcing the winners of the Windrunner and Hollywood Press fundraiser. We will also be making a major announcement that will have dramatic impact on the fight to protect the 50 and the future of our gun rights. Stay tuned and thanks for your support.

but . . .when will the next gun-control bomb fall?

When Don Perata, Jack Scott or Koretz wake up this morning.

You know all those Veterans who were given an award of an engraved 50 caliber casing? They would have all become criminals if this stupid law had passed. Sheeeesh! Furthermore, there has not been ONE crime committed with a 50 caliber . . . right? This just shows the blatant ignorance of some democrap legislators in Kalifornia.

I'm certainly glad this piece of evil legislation wasn't passed. This is indeed good news.

But this is NOT victory. It's staving off defeat.

Victory is when a piece of junk like this gets repealed. If the federal ugly gun ban and fullsize magazine ban actually sunsets next year, as it's supposed to, that will be a victory.

Contact your congressthugs early and often.

A-yep, I would be one of those veterans. Actually, didn't get any engraved .50 cal casings, but I sure have some that I souvenired from the range. That's OK, because I was already an unknowing felon when I lived in Cali, since I had a practice grenade on my bookshelf for years before I found out that those had been outlawed. Pretty whacked.

But the policritters in Cali don't give a damn about facts -- more than anything, they fear that one day their statist agenda will trigger an "open season" on them. Thus their working overtime on taking away any weapon from us unwashed masses with more stopping power than a slingshot.

Stay safe,

"If the federal ugly gun ban and fullsize magazine ban actually sunsets next year, as it's supposed to, that will be a victory."

It won't...I guarantee it. As we get closer and closer to the sunset date, you'll see more and more shooting sprees done by the evil "assault rifles" and no one will have the courage to stand down against the screaming reactionary liberals.

We'll be lucky if we get a continuation of the AWB, rather than a McCarthy/Feinstein/Schumer/Boxer monstrosity.

I hope you're mistaken, but I learnt long ago never to underestimate the stupidity of the legislature.

I would just like to mention:

Committee Chairman Senator Bruce McPherson (R-15) and Committee Vice-Chair John Vasconcellos (D-13) both [...] cast votes that allowed the bill to die in Committee.

Not all Ds are enemy (and not all Rs are friend).
