The interesting thing to note about today's letter section in the Detroit Free Press, is that south-eastern Michigan has a large Arab-American population, and you would think that July 9, 2003, would end up being a big blip on the radar, and that someone would have mentioned it. Perhaps they did, and no one at the paper wished to print it, because they think the public isn't interested. Perhaps the reason the public isn't interested, because the news isn't reporting it. The people need to be educated, before they can respond!

Hi Doc, thanks for doing such a great job.

I have now very reliable reports of big, and very bloody, clashes in five different neighborhoods in Tehran. And last night there were demonstrations in Mashad, with the people (bless them) wearing t-shirts with American flags on the front. And of course the demonstrations in Isfahan never really stopped, it's now normal. So we can already say that the regime's intimidation was not successful. And you have to admire the courage of these young Iranians...it will be a fascinating country once it's free again.

Good! They've learned that there are more people than vigilantes. They just need to stick together and overpower them. TIE THEM TO THE TREES!

I know there are lots of Iranians in Houston. I know many in Texas, but Houston was where most of them were (so it seemed).

There are many Iranians in Houston, I know quite a few. I believe that Jacksonville, FL has a large number too.

Thanks for you great work, Mr. Ledeen.

I know, but it would be nice to get an on-the-ground confirmation or video footage of this. I travel and work inside of Cuba and know that Radio Marti has lost some credibility down there (I was last there in early April) because, out of very good intentions, they exaggerate numbers of protests at time. And I don't believe it's done intentionally, but things can get innocently distorted from over-optimism sometimes. Nevertheless, I am praying these numbers are true and growing.

Really? I'll have to find them. We are still a little new here, discovering our new city.

I had some Iranian friends who had businesses in Dallas. I would go with them down to Houston on business trips. We would eat at this Persian restaurant there because Dallas didn't have one. Best food I ever ate.
