Viacom has shelved plans to launch Outlet, a 24-hour cable channel aimed at gays, according to the Gay.com/PlanetOut.com Network, an online news service operated by PlanetOut Partners. It said that it had received a statement from the company saying that "due to the current economic climate, the timetable has slowed down for the development of a new network dedicated to programming to the gay and lesbian audience. We will keep the media informed of new developments." However, the news service pointedly observed that the economic climate did not deter Viacom for buying a controlling stake in Comedy Central from AOL Time Warner for $1.13 billion or from launching Spike TV.
Yes, the urban legend is typically told in the "friend of a friend" fashion. Of course, so many people have heard it from a friend of a friend that it lacks any credibility.
Or a lot of people told a lot of people since it was such a disgusting piece of gossip about a "celebrity."
