Don't be 'scared' of Theosophy. It combines the best of 'all' religions' and philosophers. Madame Blavatsky was a simply amazing woman. On her query why men are so different than women, she disguised herself and travelled on a ship for 12 years, yes she was a very homely woman LOL.
I like it because Theosophy does not put a monetary blackmail on praying, going to church to pay to pray. I grew up Catholic, tried many religions and the manmade dogma is what scared me -g-
"Ye who fear the LORD, hate evil." It is foolish to be "ever learning, but never able to acknowledge the truth."
Almost all low-church Protestants do not try to enforce a tithe, though they will certainly appeal for support (and one will want to support them if they are doing what they ought to... which usually includes a lot of benevolences to needy Christians and missionaries). Try going to a Baptist church, a Free Methodist church. Just for example.
