Eight-year-old charged with animal cruelty

MIAMI, July 7 (UPI) -- An 8-year-old Miami-area boy faces felony charges after causing massive injuries to a 4-month-old kitten because, he told officials, he was bored.

The Miami Herald said the kitten suffered a fractured skull, fractured palate and head trauma when the unidentified boy swung it by its tail and slammed it to the ground near his Lauderdale Lakes home.

You have no way of knowing. It is premature to say, "He knew".

I think it's reasonable to assume an eight-year-old understands that something very bad will happen if you swing a cat by its tail and bash it against hard objects. Do I think he needs to be put away for life? No. Do I think some quick intervention and future monitoring is called for? YOU BET.

How about both. Including as needed elements of (politically incorrect I know) "SLUG him into understanding." Not "abuse" nor "cruelty" but well chosen, rude greetings of reality.

he needs his ass whipped with a wide leather belt, several times, if necessary. Lack of discipline is apparent. Psychological help is BS... their reaction is to just give him some ritalin, or other mind control drug.
I'll bet some of you, who may be aghast at this behavior, would be looked upon as abominable in some cultures, for stepping on an ant or other lowly creature. Cows are allowed to roam through homes and estates in some lands, as they are considered to be sacred.
I do not condone his actions, just question these reactions!

Dahmer and Gacy were serial killers... this eight year old didn't kill anyone.

Also... I am all for this child being sentenced to the fullest extent of the law, and then being placed in a psychiatric facility... he is mentally ill.
