NEW YORK - MSNBC on Monday fired Michael Savage for anti-gay comments.
The popular radio talk show host who did a weekend TV show for the cable channel referred to an unidentified caller to his show Saturday as a "sodomite" and said he should "get AIDS and die."

>>This reads like a possible set-up
I thought the same thing, too bad we can't hear what the caller said...may-be he deserved the outrage. <<
Maybe, but I'm reminded of the phrase, "You can't cheat an honest man."
Most of us could not have been set up that way.

Funny how it's the AIDS comment and not the "choke on a
sausage" comment that has everyone up in arms.
He used two manners of speech for saying "Drop dead!" after being insulted.

Makes ya feel good to see there are still some people who have guts and say what needs to be said I like savage. I listen to him while preparing dinner, and for some bizzare reason, I find him very relaxing.
Having said that, some of him comments are a bit over the top. Especially for a man of his intellect. So sometimes, I feel like I am being conned and he is appealing to the LCD that he believes makes up his audience.
If you think about it--I doubt his TV show was going to be a success. Many talk radio to TV shows fail. What is better as far as his job security goes? Getting cancelled due to lack of interest or getting fired due to lewd, crude, easily criticized comment?
He has carved out his niche. He knows he isn't getting the Rush Limbaugh golfing crowd anytime soon and he isn't looking to win them over.
He is crazy alright. Crazy like a fox.

Michael Savage is typical of what you hear on NY media. I like him because he reminds me of when I lived there and was continually shocked on a daily basis. Keeps you on your toes.

How were his ratings? could he have self destructed rather than be fired?
I do not see how he did anything wrong, unexpected or out of character. MSNBC knew his style and who they were hiring. MSNBC are just sissified panty waists.
Assume savage voice tone: What a bunch of homos.

It angers so many here..."gives Conservatives a Bad name",
Yet they love the Rino in the White House and post pictures of him in Cowboy Hats....

"Oh, you're one of the sodomites," Savage said. "You should only get AIDS and die, you pig. How's that? Why don't you see if you can sue me, you pig. You got nothing better than to put me down, you piece of garbage. You have got nothing to do today, go eat a sausage and choke on it." I'd fire him for his coarseness and rudeness. This is not a man I would hire to fill airtime.... I can't stand anyone who talks that way.

Yeah, that's the same reason USA Today fired Julienne Malveaux when she said of Clarence Thomas... That is the same thing I thought of when I heard of this story. MSNBC still has the right to fire him, but I the rest of this article is not telling the whole truth. His show did get good ratings and it fails to tell what the caller said.

Yeah, exactly... but how does the old phrase go? Reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated? Something like that... I can't believe they continue to exist.
Maybe they're holding on until the new liberal network becomes a huge success and liberal thinking sweeps the nation, creating a demand for liberal web-sites. HAHAHA. Right.

Savage has been on the radio for over 8 years. The "Morton Downey" syndrome, of which liberals have been citing about every conservative since Rush Limbaugh, has not come true.

Was Savage fired from KSFO in San Francisco, too. Poor guy. Anyway, I LOVE MICHAEL SAVAGE!!!

sounds like some people can't take a joke. what happened to the first amendment? first texas vs lawrence and now we hear the gay patrol silencing a great man. When the two homosexuals in Arkansas tortured and killed that 10 year old boy, they used "Freedom of expression" as their defence. No kidding.
One set of laws for normal folk, no laws for mutants.
