In this case, "conservative" is not a nebulous, debatable set of more or less "rightist" values. It is "stop wiping the world's clymer with our Constitution." That's as fundamental as you can get. Why wasn't Dubya and Ashcroft screaming in harmony to the Supremes that "whatever you do with Lawrence, don't turn it into a pretext to make the Constitution justify whatever private behavior the damn globe wants to enshrine as fundamental"??? DEAFENING silence, and not even the FR's foremost pundits seemed to grasp the impact until 2/3's of the SCOTUS barfed it out on America. If we don't "conserve" this Constitution, if we keep letting our most fundamental of legal assumptions be dictated by the rest of the world, it might as well not BE a Constitution. Why couldn't Kennedy, and maybe even O'Connor get that much right?

NO One is right all the time and its time we realised it and started pushing "dubya" to do the conservative thing not the great sound bite. Even the great sound bite would have been vastly preferable to the resounding silence we got here. GRRRRRRR.

Why these justices can't see it is almost irrelevant. They can still do alot of damage. But!. The real problem is the F.R. pundits who make allowances for it. People here are for the most part extremley well educated and informed. The fact that they as informed electorate tolerate and make excuses for these justices, and the current administration scare me to no end.
We constantly see post that say .elect "R's" and we will over take the court again.....how can I count on those who tolerate this type of blatant disreguard for the constitution, to elect those who will change it ?
Our real problem is with the so called educated electorate.. ( bring on the flames)

I wonder what it will take to jolt the people out of their torpor sufficiently to demand that the prostitute-the-Constitution-to-the-global-rabble end of the SCOTUS quits and is replaced by justices who won't do that. A decision that moves the capital of the United States to Geneva?

Impeach the filth and remove them from office.

Forget any talk of a Second Constitutional Convention. With talk like this from sitting members of SCOTUS, I'll hang on to the one we got.
I despair when I read stuff like this.

I'd hope not, but at this point I doubt many besides those who watch F.R. and other news sites would notice. I'm sure that if a American came up on charges cnn and the rest (except fox) would spin so that in order to accomodate the rest of the world we'd agree to a trial and seed soveriegnty to the world courts, without most realising it's consequences.
I guess I'll just shrug and say ; it will take one massive event to reel in the losses in soverienty we see on a daily basis.

I had the same thought. Once you stop teaching the truth about the Constitution you can't actually SHOW anyone the real thing.
