Many times lately I've seen the word God (on Free Republic) where some have forgotten how to spell it, like some aversion to it,

As many have already informed you, the use of G-d in lieu of God comes from the Jewish custom of not including the vowels of God's name in the text when the scribes transcribed the Scriptures. In fact, the name Jehova was spelled (as transliterated) the equivalent of Yhwh (pronounced Yah-weh) in the Hebrew Scriptures. So spelling it out as G-d is an act of reverence, not an act of aversion.

That said, there are many around here who have an aversion to seeing items posted in the "News" forum that don't belong there -- items such as vanities, emails, hoaxes, urban legends, etc. Your post -- an item you received via email, and an item which is a borderline urban legend since it is not at all an accurate quote of Billy Graham's daughter as it purports to be -- is an example of something that DOESN'T belong in the News forum. It could reasonably be posted in the General Interest forum or the Religion forum, but it isn't News.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Hmm...when I posted this, I do believe I checked the Culture/Society box under the General Interest category as the post does seem to indicate. Given that...man what a nation of thought police we have...and thanks for pointing out that I have been educated on the use of the word God or G-d as it may be. Now allow me to point out how ridiculously petty you are for the rest of your stupid and childish observation rather than addressing the post.

You know, it's one thing to be offended over stupid stuff, but it's another to obviously have nothing better to do but try and correct people's daily lives over ridiculously silly issues.

If you had read the rest of the thread you might have come to the conclusion that I was aware of possible urban legend. And to think this has nothing to do with news considering it's content, and considering events today that are addressed here concerning God (or G-d as some may have it) identifies your complete utter blindness to realities of the day. News doesn't always have to have the tagline of the NY Times or the LA Times to occupy it and be considered news, but it sure is awful funny how if something does contain the aforementioned taglines, then it automagically falls up under the category of News...mainly because there is no "pure tripe" category.

The "thought police" mentalility has become a serious problem in this nation. Thanks for perpetuating it
j-rk...and I do mean that in all applicable respectfulness...
