The United States' National Rifle Association is sui generis; it is the only gun rights lobby in the world to be one of the very most influential lobbies affecting its government. The American Civil Liberties Union is not as legislatively powerful as the NRA, but it too is vastly more influential on government than are the ACLU's foreign cousins. The NRA arises from the Second Amendment. The ACLU arises from Communist compassion for NAMBLA and other subversive groups.
British civilian disarmament arises from the need to spare home invaders traditional occupational injuries; also the destruction of dangerous delusions, e.g., life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

It took me in and out all day to chip away at this lengthy article, but it was well worth the effort.

Thanks, backhoe. I've printed the entire article out--lots in there to use for radio interviews, etc. Heck, there's lots in there that I didn't know, or hadn't thought about, and some things I knew about, but never had the source to back up what I was saying.
