Somebody in a truck in downtown Atlanta is jamming the Iranian Opposition tv broadcasts? Are foreigners in signal jamming trucks allowed to freely roam around jamming signals? I guess the FCC is off for the weekend.

Thanks for the information. Can you re-do the link? It's not working.

Link is Persian satellite Television.
www.channelonetv.com
is one of the many jammed, they're talking about it on the air and Iranians are calling from Iran saying they aren't receiving the reception, nor are they receiving it in Europe.

holy cow that's a weird story. Certainly, driving around in a truck in Atlanta jamming signals counts as some form of terrorism doesn't it?

Truck-mounted equipment able to jam a satellite uplink from an earth station with a much more powerful transmitter and a much larger antenna?
No, I don't think so.

Thanks for the ping!
This doesn't seem possible as described!
Perhaps they have bought off some critical manager of the Satellite Rebroadcasting Company!

Hmmmnn..Georgia Tech is near downtown Atlanta and has a large number of Middle Eastern students.
They are usually studying microbiology, electrical engineering or nuclear physics.
Nothing to worry about.

Actually, far too easy. If the 'real' up link is using a highly compessed (Say 16QAM) signal, the truck (maybe a ENG rig?) with a 20 watts signal could easily degrade the signal to the point of it being useless - esp if everything is digital.
Don't forget the episode where a fellow nailed HBO years ago using a rigged up home TVRO "C" band dish....no commercial gear there.
