SETBACK: Judge orders licenses pulled for two of Dave Becker's stations.

HOMER -- From a grassy ridgetop high above Homer, Dave Becker has spent two decades building a private radio empire to span the empty spaces of Southcentral Alaska. His main assets have been his technological wizardry, a keen eye for marketing advantage, and a stubborn willingness to ignore orders from the federal government to shut his operation down.

said Davis, ... "Nobody's ever done this in America. When the government says 'You may not do this,' you better not do it. They're going to get you, sooner or later."

Who made government God in America?

(I'll answer my own question - Woodrow Wilson and FDR.)

"Alaska is only make-believe, like elves, gremlins, and eskimos."

Yep. When we lived in Valdez (18 years), the tourists treated us like cast members. I don't know where they thought we lived when we weren't "on stage" in Valdez... Of course, the local businesses loved to jack up their prices for the tourist season, but the locals also had to pay the high prices, and the prices NEVER came down.

Do you live in Alaska? I only ask because I'm looking into job possibilities up there.

I always thought it was FDR and LBJ.

ROTFLOL Didn't LBJ think he was God in America? Or at least Texas? I did like him for shoving a rifle into Bobby Kennedy's hands and telling him to shoot a deer. I doubt that he did it though.

From the article -
"...In his decision, Sippel said Becker had been "motivated strictly by profit" in his fight to keep his network on the air. Davis said Becker's rivals testified to the FCC that he had pulled $3.5 million in ad revenues from their communities in eight years of operating his network..."

*********************

How horrible! This businessman is motivated by profit!

People motivated by profit should never be allowed to enter the marketplace.

It's too bizarre for fiction. Statements like that make me want to buy another thousand rounds of ammo.
