A little too frightening for the girls. Sort of like military service that involves combat. Don't want to break those nails or get that 'do all mussed up. Oh, please. I used to listen to Savage every day on KSFO before he went national. As his audience and coverage has increased, he has become (IMHO) enamored of his own fame and influence, and the show has become at least as much about him as it is about issues - on many days moreso.
His show has been, to me, tedious and lacking in substantive discussion of red meat issues. Women Freepers are a stronger breed than female leftists. And we actually have a sense of humor, too, unlike the "That's not funny" females! Ask AnnaZ! :-)

The Savage Nation is NOT the fastest-growing talk show. It was at one time, but no more. Facts are facts. Yes, and the two other relevant stats that are not, of course, as prominently discussed are the stations dropping the show, and the actual advertising dollars brought in. The WABC message board had some discussion about station-generated spots during Savage's erstwhile time slot, looking for advertisers for the program ("If you'd like to be an advertiser on this program, call..."). That is the smooch of death.

Oops! Forgot to turn the italics off. Take Two:

Well, I predicted it way back a couple of weeks ago on
another thread. Seems I was proven right.
I am glad Mark will get the slot. Michael may have a PhD, but he hasn't got a clue about radio.
PS, BTW Mark if you're checking in. There's a pic I took of you at CPAC on my profile.

That was a good thread, and thanks a million for the WABC message board. MUCH better than the swamp that is ba.broadcast (thanks to one particular loon, to paraphrase Jimmy Buffett). Hope you had a GREAT Fourth! I'll tune in WABC's stream to listen to Mark.

I watched the TV show on the 5th. Some how he has to get a Producer who can place him proper attire (A sport coat, tie and so forth, but no broad plaids)and see to it the microphone is not in his face. TV is almost completely a visual media and the usual patter that goes over on the radio is dull and flat.
He seems to come alive lecturing like when he was doing the barbecue bit. IMHO he is a frustated academic and likes to help others with sage advice.
He seems like Jackie Mason (who was on the Beltway Boys)in that he is psychopathically fluent (without being a psychopath)and deeply desirous of being loved. Since Savage is not billed as a comedian, he should focus on guests and perhaps add something like "facts and fear and fear of facts" and go into a lecture mode off some guest.
I do want to see him succeed and MSNBC has given him an hour. He will need more substance to his show than he has thus far shown.
At the risk of being flamed, the sodomy thing is overdone. The problem is there are no arrests and convictions for heterosexual sodomy (at least they never make the local papers);hence, it is hard to send homosexuals to prison.
If I were to focus on homosexuality I would focus on "bath houses." There was an excellent article in the Washinton Monthly (not known for conservative views)that made the case for their being outlawed.
Conservative Jewish intellectuals do best when they give the philosophical foundation and facts behind their positions and do less well when they pander to common beliefs and prejudices without giving a foundation for these beliefs.

But he does read from the Bible so can't go too wrong there. He comes from the old Horatio Algers' school like my dad and mother and it was how I was raised. He has a love for his family, country, and God and I think that matters alot!

Now Mark Levin, the Great One, I could listen to him talk for hours a day.You guys really lose me with this one. 1/2 his jokes fall flat and he usually comes off as mean spirited. The pitch of his voice often hurts my ears. Hannity seems to die laughing when 'The Great One' calls in, and make no mistake, he is usually dead-on right and pithy, but the bottom line is that Levin is a chore to listen to.

I would love to see Larry Elder move over to KSFO. His live hours are 3-6 pacific. So, 12-3 Hannity Live, 3-6 Elder Live, 6-9 Brian Wilson, 9-12 Laura rerun, 12-? Coast. Howdat? :-) Not bad, but how about (a) replacing Dr. Laura "Shit-slinger" (as Jim Eason used to refer to her) in the 9-12 pm slot with a Neil Boortz rerun and (b) giving Officer Vic a weekend show?

Both are good! I put Doc Laura in there for the Rush/Laura contract requirements. :-) I'd love to hear O.V. do something on the weekend!

The bottom line is that Levin is a chore to listen to. IMO Mark doesn't have time to prepare because of his law practice. Monica Crowley has a good show because she does her homework, and takes the time to book interesting guests.
To: Dr. Scarpetta
I like Levin and he is ok, in small doeses. think if he prepared better and got more experience, he would be very good. As it stands, listening to him for 2 or 3 hours is difficult.

Mark needs to stay calm so his heart problems don't act up again.
