I have always been puzzled by folks like Aaron Copland. A lot of his music was based on traditional American folk music - but he, like some other composers from that time, obviously hated the US.

Of course, it was this country that gave him and his family the freedom to do what they could and get ahead here, and let him go out and excel as a musician, but for some reason, this does not seem to have made any impact.

I have never understood why so many of the children and grandchildren of immigrants who had gotten their start here and would have been nothing but dirt farmers in the Old Country hated us so much.
