He relates seeing a pistol being used by North Keorean troops with a USSR label.

Some of their equipment also had US labels! This was because it was WWII equipment which had been sent by the US to the Soviets. The Soviets sent a lot of lend-lease equipment to North Korea.

A lot of people have swallowed the idea that the North Koreans were in the war only with the Chinese. The TV program MASH pushes this theme. I used to use two litmus tests on "history" books in order to test for liberal bias:

(1) Did the book happen to mention that Stalin was on the side of Hitler when WWII broke out?

and

(2) Did the book mention that the cease-fire of the Korean War corresponded to the change of leadership in the Soviet Union? The tructh was that the Soviets could no longer economically support the war effort. Once they reduced their support, the Koreans agreed to a cease-fire.

What I found interesting there was that the pistol said "USSR" at all. You would think it would read "CCCP".

Obviously, there is no way to know what exact model the Seargent saw or what the weapon's geneology would have been, but I find it odd that the Soviets would have put USSR on something they manufactured. You can see on this pistol the CCCP and I would've thought that would've been more common.

1950 is when Stalin signed the pact with Red China. (Putin made a trip to China earlier this year, during the time the mental Il was threatening US.)

Under that agreement the Chinese sent their 120,000 bodies into N. Korea while Stalin secretly gave air support.

Stalin was boycotting the U.N. at the time which is the reason that the U.N. declared its first war.

Stalin died and then the cease fire happened.
