He relates seeing a pistol being used by North Keorean troops with a USSR label. What I found interesting there was that the pistol said "USSR" at all. You would think it would read "CCCP".

Obviously, there is no way to know what exact model the Seargent saw or what the weapon's geneology would have been, but I find it odd that the Soviets would have put USSR on something they manufactured. You can see on this pistol the CCCP and I would've thought that would've been more common.

CCCP represents the Cyrillic characters for SSSR, which is how it would be transliterated into the Roman alphabet. Presumably the sergeant was translating what he saw into the usual American version, which is USSR.
