Stripperella?!?
AOL/Entertainment Weekly ^ | 07-03-03 | Bruce Fretts

Posted on 07/03/2003 7:02:07 PM PDT by Tall_Texan

A cartoon figure so curvaceous she makes Jessica Rabbit look like Olive Oyl, Stripperella brings new meaning to CRIME BUSTING. Her secret identity: exotic dancer Erotica Jones. Her not-so-secret identity: Pamela Anderson, who inspired Marvel Comics guru Stan Lee to create the pole-dancer-at-night, crime-fighter-later-at-night character she voices. With lie-detecting breasts and glass-cutting nipples, Stripperella puts the squeeze on supervillains like Queen Clitoris, a cyberterrorist who's ''not to be rubbed the wrong way.'' (Admits Anderson, ''There couldn't be any more innuendos in a half hour.'') The ''V.I.P.'' veteran persuaded fiancé Kid Rock to write the show's theme (''It wasn't hard -- I told him he was doing it'') and even works her pet cause into the scripts: ''Wherever I can stick in an animal rights message, I will.'' So is Stripperella all natural? ''She's been surgically enhanced, but she'll never tell,'' Anderson teases. ''She won't make the same mistake as me.''

Jessica Rabbit, would do ANYTHING for her man.

Stripperella, would fake anything to get a dollar.

Jessica Rabbit, only plays patty cake.

Stripperella, how much money do you have?

Jessica Rabbit, a woman you want to help

Stripperella, a woman you want to get rid of.

no I have not seen the series, but the commercials and pr speak volumes.

While I, as an adult, appeciate and enjoy some of the humor in shows like The Simpsons and South Park, some of the material is simply not appropriate for children. And if you want to use that flacid excuse that it's shown past children's bedtimes, ask yourself how many children you know that aren't intimately aware of the characters and storylines on South Park, which tries to cover itself with the same excuse.

While you're better than most, you're still not getting it.

It is a parents responsibility to control what their child sees. Not yours (Except with you own kids.) and not mine (except with mine).

South Park doesn't 'need' and 'excuse'. It's parents who are doing the excuse making.

You know that "R" on that rating is supposed to stand for something. Have you forgotten what that is?

Yes. No one under 17 admitted WITHOUT AN ADULT.

But TV isn't rated, either.

kids love cartoons and I do appreciate the adult humor in the Simpsons... but the mix... it forces kids to grow up beyond their years. If they watch it.

You're quite mad, I take it?
The Simpsons does not force anyone to grow up.

Let me guess, you were the geeky kid in school who was always picked on.

I'm in my 30's.
I remember what passed for humor and jokes in Junior High. Nothing the Simpsons do would even come close to being as crude.

But will TNN have commercials which are showing men in a positive light? Or will they show little boys the same men are stupid fodder.

The show is on at 11 PM!!!! Sorry, but my kids are in bed by that time.
I think Pam Anderson has had a sucessful career at playing a kooky vamp...Good for her. I frankly don't see what the fuss is all about.

Pardon me, but this chick is just scary.

I don't find her that attractive either.

You watch commericals?

And worse are concerned over their artistic content?

Kids knowing about sex in the (gasp) SIXTH grade is not a bad thing. I knew about sex at age 6. My MOTHER was responsible enough to not toss some idiotic stork story at me and told me the truth about sex, puberty, etc. I am still grateful to her this day for that.

I will ask what exactly the other poster means by "sexually active to some degree by 6th grade". If it's intercourse, of course I would also question where are the parents in these kids' lives. That's obviously too young. However, if we're talking about kissing or some feeling up so what? Get real. I got my first 'real' kiss in 6th grade. I am certainly NOT a NAMBLA member. Do you even know what NAMBLA stands for? Kids messing with other kids is not the same as grown adults in a cult organization luring children into sexual acts.

There are all of these other things in the world to deal with and people are upset over a stupid cartoon that is aired after young kids SHOULD BE IN BED. If your children are watching programs you don't want them to, try something new.... parental control.

Speaking as a female, I could not possibly care less about the Striperella show. However, for us gals, there's Cartoon Network's Samurai Jack. Jack rips off his robe to show his fine physique, frequently has the robe cut off bit by bit during a battle until he's down to his samurai underwear, and even spends half of one episode "nekkid". Now THAT'S a cartoon worth watching! Not to mention that it's also intelligent, beautifully drawn and has deep meaning.

And in other news, Pamela Anderson, busty star of the 90s TV hit Baywatch was laid to rest. Ms. Anderson died suddenly while jogging. The cause of death was reported as massive blunt trauma to the face. Police suspect no foul play at this time.

AT EASE!

"most are even sexually active to some degree by then."

You say this so matter-of-factly as if to show approval.

"Relax"

Why should any MORAL being be told to relax when ten year olds are being sexually active? Do you think it's just natural curiosity or do you think this is a result of the programming pushed forth by shows like this one? Just because some parents want their children raised in the sewer doesn't mean that I have to "relax" about it. Yes, kids have sex pushed on them at steadily early ages when they are still way too young and way too innocent to deal with it. Must we accelerate the process because the adults who have these babies can't be bothered to raise them properly?

I'll admit the NAMBLA comment was cheap shot, but you shouldn't be surprised when you prescribe that people should just "relax" about ten-year-olds having sex. I don't know what sort of community you want your children raised in but it can't be one I would be proud to live in if your comments are an accurate barometer of their moral fiber.

What sort of battles DO you think are worth fighting if scumbags pushing sex on infants is not one of them?

She seems to have a sense of humor about herself, and a realistic understanding of the cause of her celebrity. I find that refreshing. Like your attitude.
