ROCHESTER NY A former city police officer convicted this spring of sexually abusing eight women is threatening to sue the city and Police Department, claiming he was inadequately supervised, poorly trained and maliciously prosecuted.
Clint Jackson, who is serving a two-year sentence in the Livingston County Jail, made the allegations in a hand-written notice of claim filed with the city.
While working as a police officer, I was being inadequately supervised leading to my loss of employment, he wrote. I had been poorly trained to do my job, he added.
City Attorney Linda Kingsley called the claim absurd, especially the allegation of malicious prosecution considering he was found guilty. She added that Jackson was properly trained and supervised.
This is an offensive waste of the taxpayers money, she said Tuesday.
In January, Jackson was convicted of 15 counts of third-degree sexual abuse of eight women. He was acquitted of another 16 counts. Most of the incidents happened at traffic stops when he was a police officer. He improperly touched womens thighs and breasts when he searched them.
Jackson, 24, had worked for the department for less than two years when he was fired in January 2002.

The original article has a picture of Jackson. Jackson is black. Which I bring up only because I'm amazed someone this sleazy and prone to frivolous lawsuits did not also make a claim that his civil rights were violated.
The sad part is that, given our current culture of victimization and our over-eagerness to excuse every from of deviant or criminal behavior, I'm sure there are people in America who think this guy might have a point.
Only two years?
I think Ithaca just found another recruit for their "felons to teachers" program... ;-)

Former Rochester Police Officer found guilty of sexual abuse A jury on Friday found former Rochester Police Officer Clint Jackson guilty on 15 of 31 charges of misdemeanor sexual abuse charges. More than a dozen women accused the 23-year-old of groping them during routine traffic stops.
Jackson was found guilty on 15 counts. Not guilty on 16 counts. Several women testified saying Jackson touched private parts of their bodies while patting them down and frisking them. Some woman say Jackson touched them more than once. Each touch equaled a count.
While Jackson's lawyer says a split verdict does not make sense, Assistant District Attorney Alecia Elston she thinks it does. One lady had put her hand in her pocket and he said do you have a weapon, so the second search after that perhaps the jury felt that because she had made that overt motion of putting her hand in her pocket, that perhaps that second search for weapons could have been considered appropriate although they felt the first one was not.
Jacksons lawyer, David Murante, disagrees. It doesn't make sense to make that's right, either he acted for the purpose of sexual gratification or he didn't. The defense was clear that it was a question of supervision and training and his experience. At worse it was a mistake. And to split the verdict like this just doesn't make sense to me.
Murante says sometime in the future he might make a motion to set aside the verdict and ask for a new trial. Jackson is scheduled to be sentenced in March and faces a maximum sentence of two years behind bars.

Former cop sentenced for sexual abuse A former Rochester Police officer will spend the next two years behind bars. Clint Jackson was sentenced Monday morning.
In January a jury found him guilty on 15 of 31 charges of misdemeanor sexual abuse charges. More than a dozen women accused the 23-year-old of groping them during routine traffic stops.
The judge also issued a 1-year order of protection for each victim.
Where abouts in Rochester do you live? I just moved from South Clinton / Highland area to North Winton a few weeks ago.
I have to wonder what a 22 year old cop was doing out on the streets alone anyways... where was his partner?
As far as professionalism or protocol is concerned, I happen to know a bunch of RPD officers, and several SWAT guys. They are off the wall to say the least, but if you had to work Bay St, Lylle Ave, Clifford, etc... I would cut you some slack! Having lived in the city long enough, I don't give cops here a 2nd thought because I have seen some pretty crazy stuff, and the craziest thing I could even think of doing would not even raise an eyebrow with city cops.
One of my biggest complaints is that there are not enough beat cops here. Except for the guys on Monroe & Park Ave on the bike patrol, I rarely see a cop out of the cruiser unless they are getting coffee or putting someone in handcuffs.
Maybe I'll see you around...
which end of winton are you on ? north or south?
are you in irondequoit? north of ridge?
With better supervision and training he would have done a better job of molestion the women? Or maybe he would have known how to get out of being prosecuted.
If you get a chance - check out Pasta Villa on Ridge- best white clam sauce in town
His initial complaint was handwritten, according to the article. I would take this to mean he is a "jailhouse lawyer" representing himself.
This is, in fact, a common problem in New York State: prisoners with nothing better to do sit around and file frivolous lawsuits. It's not like he can be fined for doing so (as he is essentially judgement proof) and, if lucky, he might get a few trips to the court house (on the taxpayer's dime) to argue the case before its ultimately dismissed.
Another fine aspect of New York's liberal justice system.
Odd.... we'd pile into the car - stop at abbotts (or schallers) and go watch the planes take off - then again - I was from greece, not gates
This is rich. This guy is blaming his bad behavior as a cop on poor supervision. As a grownup, you're supposed to conduct yourself professionally without your mommy constantly over your shoulder. What an egghead. He's claiming 'It's my police sergeant's fault that I'm a rapist.'
