'Bring Them On,' Bush Says to Iraq Attacks

Wed July 2, 2003 11:32 AM ET WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush on Wednesday challenged militants who have been killing and injuring U.S. forces in Iraq, saying "bring them on" because American forces were tough enough to deal with their attacks.

"There are some who feel like that conditions are such that they can attack us there," Bush told reporters at the White House. "My answer is bring them on. We have the force necessary to deal with the situation."

I really don't think this type of talk is smart. Show 'em, don't tell them.

Besides that, should we suffer a sizable attack on our troops, the pundits will clamour "Bush asked for it"...

would much rather he would have appended a hearty "...n' will kick your ass!"

But, good enough as is, I suppose.....

"My answer is bring them on."

I take it Bush is going to be manning some Iraqi checkpoints himself with such a bold devil may care attitude. -sarcasm off- I wonder if those young men who walk point in that hellhole have a similar mindset. Not like they miss their families and fear for their lives or anything.

Yes, but the bravado resonates deep within the hearts of hundreds of thousands of US truckers/voters from coast to coast.

Or more likely he clarified the quote, and Reuters conveniently left that part out.

I notice he isn't the one over there. I wish he's take his punk bravado back to Texas or Kennebunkport.

I heard a soldier say the same thing toward the end of major combat operations. The logic is that it would be easier to kill the Islamic fanatics if they would all come to Iraq rather than requiring the US to invade another country.

The soldier said that the terrorist are trained to attack unarmed civilians, not a well-trained fighting force. He predicted the terrorist would have no idea what they would be going up against when taking on the US Army.

Seeing that you object to "punk bravado," can I assume you are cowering in safety over here?

Yeah, gee, he's just such a punk, so full of bravado!! He always speaks like this, doesn't he?

No?

That's right, he doesn't.

It's out of character for him. Remember him, the guy who loves the military, and whom the military loves?

Maybe you should wait and find out some details instead of just assuming REUTERS would attempt to portray his comment objectively.

Screw the pundits. They have been wrong on every count. Our troops out there need to know the boss is one hundred percent behind them! We are fighting a war for the safety of the American homeland out there. Forget the Democrats, they are all traitors! GW is just sending the word out that says: harm one American and you are going to pay dearly. We should shoot and ask questions later. This is a war and these Arab terrorists are animals. They are not human beings. They are not worth the loss of one American life. If they get one step out of line the USA military should kill them on-sight! What the heck do you think happened in Germany and Japan when we first occupied those countries. The good folks of Iraq that are looking for a decent life in their future will stand by us and applaud our tough actions. These poor folks have been tortured, abused, robbed and tormented for 35 years! Do what the Democrat "traitor" liberals want done and your throats will be slit as you sleep in your cozy American beds. Wake up, fools! Your lives and future is what's at stake!

None of them were drafted, last I checked. Those who go willingly have our respect and admiration. They will give far better than they get.

Those who don't want to be there should look into other careers. Don't join the army if you don't want to get shot at.
