Young men are running from marriage

Other than a 29-inch waist and a full head of hair, there isn't much to recommend the twentysomething male.
He is footloose and fancy-free -- except for the fact that he is likely to be living with his parents. It takes him longer to leave home than his women friends, and he is more likely to return.
He is, of course, sexually active and therefore at increased risk of unmarried fatherhood, but he doesn't especially like kids. He considers them a financial burden and an irritant in any relationship with the mother.
He is openly suspicious that a woman would try to trap him with a pregnancy or that a one-night stand would result in a pregnancy and a long-term parenting relationship with a woman he doesn't care about and doesn't want to marry. This fear, however, doesn't keep him from regularly waking up with a stranger.
He has no biological clock because he can father children well past middle age, so he is in no hurry to marry. He is looking for a "soul mate," and he believes there is someone out there whom he is destined to love.

The TV ads are constantly portraying men as stupid buffoons. I saw a toilet cleaning commercial that had 3 guys drinking beer and one walks in and comments on his clean toilet and the home owner says he uses "X brand of toilet cleaner, maybe I can get the wife to do it sometime" and a guy laughs and puts his beverage on the coffee table without a coaster and the home owner hits his shoulder and says "get a coaster". Slightly humorous but total girl talk.
Total feminazi dream commercial.

Don't get married. Find a woman you hate and buy her a house. It's a lot easier on you. LOL!
I'm still in the pre-hate stage with my wife, and I hope I'm part of the lucky men who find a lady and not a b**ch.
To: Tank-FL
It is so with many.
What the people who do this don't realize, male and female, is storing up lots of baggage that often makes eventual marriage hard to maintain.

That mini-essay is chilling.

"Yet we still know it to be true that after divorce, the men are usually better off financially and the women worse off."
Better off financially? What does that mean? A housewife who never worked a day in her life who gets half her husbands property seems better off to me. She has obtained the un-earned right to a man's money, time and resources for years- until she marries again, and many just shack up with their boyfriends and continue to leach off the ex.
Woman are better off financially if they divorce.- don't kid yourself.

I pay attention and do not buy those products. Like the hummer comercial "another reason to intimidate men", to me that made the H2 the ultimate sissy mobile.

Interesting how EVERYTHING is the fault of women.
Yes it is.....Why do ya'll do that?
We are all servants of Satan. We hold secret meetings in women's restrooms. Why do you think we go there in groups?
And stay so long. Hmmmmm!

There are three kinds of American women. Uptight Dr. Laura types. Not very intelligent party girls. Intelligent girls who are feminist wenches. You might want to add a third category for Female Freepers, lest you just be labeled a full on woman hater....

One poster was clarifying that he distinguished between "women" and "feminists"... There's a HUGE difference between those two.

I live in the SF Bay Area and personally know of many males, in the 25-35 age bracket, that are not married. Most of them have no desire to get married or buy a house. They seem to think that they have forever to do that. I got married at 25. They all think I am crazy.

What to do? Import your wife from another country who hasn't had its culture completely destroyed yet by cultural marxisim, trust me, it works. Asian and Latin American countries are good places to go looking for wives. Hope you brought asbestos .... you are going to need it. :)

Marriage is a very bad deal for a young man today.
I advise same at every opportunity. No-fault divorce.......and child support (without ENFORCED visitation mind you) that equals 60% of your GROSS income has driven young men away.
It seems the advice of their fathers is finally starting to do some good. In America, 80% of divorces are initiated by women.....and 90% of the time they get custody of the children....placing young men in indentured servitude.
To behave differently than the article laments would be irrational.

You "took" the children- and used child support, which you don't need to deny your husband the alimony HE IS ENTITLED TO?
You're a Real catch.

I'm thinking of a particular friend that would love to be married..her standards are high (not unreasonably so though) and she hasn't found a man with equal standards as yet. Per my friend, there are too many men interested in the frosting but not the cake.I am also looking to be married, but most women that I end up meeting, are looking for a one night stand or are just messed up in the head.

A housewife who never worked a day in her life who gets half her husbands property seems better off to me.Oh now, wait a minute. If she's spent her life cooking, cleaning, and taking care of several children, I'll have you know, that's work. And it's not a 9-5 job, someone's yelling "where's my blue shirt?" at 7:00am and there are dirty dishes in the sink after dinner. And every minute in between. No, I refuse to believe that the housewives of yesteryear were just sitting on the couch eating chocolate and watching TV all the time. I know my Grandma, who raised me, worked from morning till night. Even in the evenings while Grandpa and I watched television, she was crochetting hats and mittens and what have you. She worked constantly.

Yet we still know it to be true that after divorce, the men are usually better off financially and the women worse of Before marriage, men are also likely to be better off financially, and women worse off.

**I am also looking to be married, but most women that I end up meeting, are looking for a one night stand or are just messed up in the head.**
sigh. I wish I could group together all the *decent* folks looking to be married...and match them up! Just call me Yenta. :o)

Hmmm. I know a man who has custody of his three children and receives child support. He is definately the better parent.
**Marriage is a very bad deal for a young man today**
If one goes into marriage with the idea he/she will be divorcing later, their marriage is doomed in the first place. imo.
To: Right Wing Professor
Before marriage, men are also likely to be better off financially, and women worse off.Yeah, that is still true, although not as true as it used to be.
