Agreed. Rove bothers me to no end. But he is a genius when it comes to smacking down Dems. I do miss Karen Hughes, though...

Okay. If you explain what you mean and point to examples on this thread, I'll certainly look at them.

I'm sure you'd all love it if all of your posts went unchallenged.

And I never said you called me any of those things.

As for this remark:

If this is how you folks treat him on a thread where he did not disrupt...

you'll be hard pressed to find a Bush thread he doesn't try to distract.

I, too, have not agreed with Bush on some issues- and I've let him know as well as other freepers. And yes, even *I*, queen of the Bushbots, have wavered in my support of GWB from time to time.

But until someone shows me a better candidate, a better Republican, and a better conservative that can be elected as President, GWB has my support in 2004. Oh, and some simply cannot grasp the concept that you can disagree with the President on various issues and still support him.

I didn't see the link up the thread until after I'd responded to your post.  Here's a comment on the linked material.

TBLSHOW

To: Scenic Sounds

So will everyone if Bush gets his act together, if not he is toast!

Rush just said... ...he doesn't care if the democrats are elected and it would be better because then the conservatives would hold them to account unlike Bush and his liberal democrat agenda.

Howlin

***This is what Rush said, verbatim:

(Note: this was in a discussion with Snerdly concerning the possible defeat of the Medicare bill, and Snerdly evidently said that it was an election year, etc., and we might lose the House and then the Dems would be in charge of national security.)

"I'd just soon go back and be in the minority and raise hell -- you know, like it was back in the good old days.

"Let them be in charge of national defense. I'm about to adopt the policy of "Let's just show the country how rotten it can be with Democrats in charge. I mean, let them be in charge of national defense. We've beaten terrorism. There is no problem. The Democrats keep telling us that that terrorism isn't that big a deal."
Not seeing the full context that Howlin provided might lead a careless reader to think TBLSHOW was trying to say Rush said he didn't want Bush to be re-elected.  I made that mistake myself.  In truth, what TBLSHOW states is that with a 'less than conservative Bush administration' (admitedly by his standard), Rush thinks the house gets by with too much, where they wouldn't if the House was in the Democrat's hands.  If the House was in the Democrats hands, Bush would strike down some of this nonsense.

Hey, I misread it.  I think I made a mistake.

I will admit that the lead in sentence sure doesn't seem to back my premise, but I don't think the follow-on paragraph says exactly what you folks think it did.

It's also possible that TBLSHOW extrapolated that the natives are restless, even Rush.  By election time those folks may have settled down, but I do see a growing feeling of resentment.

Look folks, people are not here to take down Bush.  They are not advocating Gore or Hillary or Daschle be our standard bearer.  What they are saying is that a $400 billion dollare medicare enhancement is the very thing Roosevelt would have done.  It simply isn't defensible in my opinion at least in conservative terms, and I might add my perception isn't in a vacuum.  Please don't think folks hate Bush simply because they are willing to call a spade a spade.

"some simply cannot grasp the concept that you can disagree with the President on various issues and still support him."

Rintense, could you support someone who made it possible for you to be unable to buy a loaf of bread unless you spoke Spanish?
That's already a fact in a few Texas border towns.
Would you support someone who would give tacit approval to the practice by medical care facilities of turning away fifth generation Americans who happened to be without insurance but allowing illegal immigrants free acess to hospital services?
It's happening.
Would you give approval to someone who would encourage illegals to come here and take your job because they can exist on less money than you require?
It's now a common practice.
Would you give approval to someone who would give amnesty to a million criminals who broke our laws and entered this country illegally? This is the plan.

This is more than a "disagreement" with GW's policies.
This is a rebellion against the raping of our heritage and our culture.

I agree with your post, and I think you left a lot out. I don't dislike the supporters of Bush, but while we sit here bickering about whether we ought to assume he always knows what he is doing, and seek to reconsile our differences, our nation is going down the toilet. Why should one third of all students in the LAUSD (who are the chidren of illegal aliens), get gifted with a $10,000 a year education, when our own citizens have to pay for parking just to attend junior college. BTW, all junior college fees will be going up again due to California's financial situation. Will illegals have to fork over one red cent for their $120,000 k-12 education? Will they have to fork over one cent for school breakfast and lunch programs? Will they fork over one cent for school nurse programs that immunize them and provide medical care on the spot?

Folks, either we are conservatives or we're not. Which is it?

"In truth, what TBLSHOW states......"

In all earnestness, how on God's green earth could you be sure of what TLBSHOW is stating? I would really like to know that, because half of the time, what he is stating makes absolutely no sense at all.

Now from this:

"Rush just said... ...he doesn't care if the democrats are elected and it would be better because then the conservatives would hold them to account unlike Bush and his liberal democrat agenda." 186 posted on 07/01/2003 2:40 PM EDT by TLBSHOW (The Gift is to See the Truth)

You are purporting to stand in, and tell us what he means?

That sounds more like a state issue to me. Granted, the borders are a huge problem, and I do not agree with Bush on his border policy. But, he hasn't given amnesty to anyone, and I don't think it will happen. As for medical facilities turning away anyone, by law, they can't.

I am truly sorry for what you are going through. There are similar things going on where I live, but certainly not as bad as where you live. What are you doing to fight the good fight? Have you let your governor know? Congressmen? President? I know sometimes it can seem futile to even try to fight, but if we don't fight for what we believe in, our country might as well fold up and die right now.

I went though a very nasty event five years ago on July 4th weekend that had to do with illegals to some degree. And the fact that many of my friends said I should move pissed me off. Why? Because *I* didn't do anything wrong. I stayed put and told everyone else to piss off. So fight the good fight. I hope things do get better.

I can only speak for myself, but I don't feel this way. Conversely, don't think that folks agree with everything Bush does simply because they support him.

I don't buy that, DO. Let Todd speak for himself. He has skewed even my posts to support his own cause- and he was summarily and severely admonished (by me) to never, EVER twist my words to support his cause again.

I have written e-mails and sent letters snail mail to everyone who is even remotely connected with the immigration problem, but until the leader of our country decides that enough is enough, nothing will be done.

Hospitals DO turn away people.
It's simply a matter of not enough bed space.
Somehow the pregnant illegals always manage to get in.

It's not just the illegals who are living here in the US.
We're supporting families who don't even live here!
They have relatives who shop for groceries here with the Lone Star card and take those same groceries back across the border.
We're feeding a large portion of the whole border of Mexico!

And don't ever think that these welfare cards are exempt from the fraud of cash payments.
I have personally witnessed extra groceries being rung up and cash handed back to spend on beer or whatever.

Then the clerks breaking the laws should be reported.
