I understand what you're saying and I don't think I'm being unfair or creating a crude caricature of that to say that that's a Bubble view of the world. Just because it's a city? These are college-age kids after all. Soon they're going to be out alone in the big wild, wide world. I think it *is* a dangerous bubble-ish view of the world to say even at that age, even when working at the Bush White House, it's all too dangerous. Kids can't be sheltered *that* much at that age -- they have to be making the right choices on their own very soon.
I see what you're saying and I just still feel, with cheerful regret, that that's an entirely different planet with a different weather system than mine.
Well, so be it. We disagree. I'm sure this young McDonald will acquit herself just fine.

Kids can't be sheltered *that* much at that age -- they have to be making the right choices on their own very soon. I think you are probably right, and I never said she SHOULD be sheltered, or prevented from making her own decisions at her age. She might even be living at home, for all I know.
I'm just concerned about the future for my children, and projecting useless anxiety onto this young lady's situation. Thanks for being civil!
