You want to add "But women ought not be asked to give their lives." I don't wanna add that... some anonymous (to me) woman death is better than my death.
Sorry but that's the way it is. My sister, my mother... fine. I'll die for them, but just any plain-Jane? 'Bout time they sing for their supper (living in a free society)

Who were the liars that invented this BS Rambo Jessica Lynch story? Where did those cockroaches go when the light of scrutiny flipped on? I find it interesting that nobody seems to know where a first hand account would have come from - seeing as the list of witnesses is VERY small AND traceable.
Seems we have the technology to track down truth - unlike other ages - but lack the will to do so - very MUCH like the idiot ages we are doomed to repeat.

The June 18 edition of the Army Times gives an account of how JL and others in her unit were injured/killed in a motor vehicle accident, not due to fighting. Her weapon jammed, she did not shoot or kill any Iraqis and was not herself shot or stabbed.

But the Navy's own internal investigation revealed that Hultgren had been responsible for the accident, and more damning for the Navy, that she had been certified to fly, though she'd twice before made the same mistake that ultimately killed her. Liberals still deny this today.

I feel great compassion for all combat military personnel, but this whole "military woman" thing in the press is puzzling to me. Women are risking their lives every day in civilian life in jobs such as firefighters, policewomen, search-and-rescue, and so on. Israeli military women have been in harm's way for many years. My aunt missed by a week an assignment to a US military nursing unit that ended up being captured during WW2. I don't know what's going on with these screwed up stories of military women, but there have been brave women in dangerous situations long before the war with Iraq.

Its all about keeping women in the military as in keeping the Clinton agenda of women in battle.

I have been skeptical of the Lynch story from Day 1. Isn't is CONVENIENT that she now has "AMNESIA" and can't remember anything about the incident, not 1 single thing! Sounds like amnesia ordered by the brass. If she has amnesia and can't remember anything, why are all the networks falling all over themselves to interview her? She supposedly can't tell them anything. Hmmmmmmmmmm. makes you wonder, don't it?

The government wants to make up great stories in order to make us feel better. That stuff does no one any good.

The decision to allow women into possible frontline and close combat positions, was a matter of political correctness and instituted under the PC POTUS, Bill Clinton. The damage has been done. Reversing the Clinton decision would be appropriate policy at this time. Whether that is going to happen is anyones guess, but I wouldn't count on it.
Any liberties taken by the US Army in exaggerating the Jessica Lynch story, didn't do Private Lynch or the Army any good in the long run.

Socially engineering the military is the Holy Grail of the Left . It is 1 of the last traditional outpost .
I'm more curious to see what change in policy will come down the pipes considering Mr. Rumsfeld's favourable position with respect to asymmetrical warfare wich I happen to agree with .
Should prove to be very interesting .

I suspect we're witnessing a confluence of lies versus reality, the "amnesia" thing makes a convenient dodge till everything can get sorted out. Movie deals, book deals, interviews and such hang in the balance.
The question isn't whether women "can" be in combat, it's whether they should. As cultural standards, manners and outright human decency in this country takes a slide in favor of "me! me! me!" we can expect to see things like this. A country that sends single, unwed mothers into combat while effete urban males riot in the streets over necessary military action is a sign of the times. Truth be told, our enemies view us as evil for some very, very good reasons.
Bump for a later read.

That's not true. She never said she had amnesia. Her family, who visited her, denied the stories of amnesia. It's true she may have blacked out due to her injuries and pain, but from what I've heard she remembers the crash and she remembers waking up afterward.
