I like where you're going. How do we handle, say, the marriage of two men in Belguim or Denmark?

How do we handle, say, the marriage of two men in Belguim or Denmark? The same way we handle polygamous marriages from Islamic nations: public policy exception. Anyhow, Denmark doesn't [yet] have marriage but rather civil union; you have to be a citizen of Belgium to marry there. The one to worry about in that sense is Canada.

The same way we handle polygamy from the middle east or africa. The first wife is recognized the second, third, and fourth are not. (had a case with this issue)
Those marriages are not recognized. The suddan has slavery to this day. Those who bring slaves to the US today are not entitled to have thier slave property contract recognized.
That out of country issue is really a no brainer.

We treat it like the fiction it is. Would we recognize a 19th century Muslim Pasha and his 26 wives if he came to this country?

How do we handle, say, the marriage of two men in Belgium or Denmark?Simple and easy. If an arrangement does not meet our definition of marriage, it cannot be legally recognized as marriage, no matter what has taken place anywhere else.
