Not to brag, but I knew someone (a stage director) who was friendly with her brother. Therefore I had occasion to meet her brother at their house in Connecticut. She was not there. The brother was a bit eccentric. He made a whole bunch of pieces of toast as he stood in the kitchen and chatted with us, and he kept sticking a knife into the toaster to dig the toast out - it made me so nervous. They had chairs hanging from the walls, very high up. Quite New England eccentric in their decor I thought. We were shown around the house, and her brother pointed out a pair of bedroom slippers under a bed, which he told us belonged to Spencer Tracy. This was in the 70's. It was quite an amazing day.

She was a legend in the class of the Hollywood greats. There have been but a handful of them. Some people seem to large to ever die. She was one.
