This freak exhibits (pun intended) all the qualities the rats look for in their future leaders.

Frist defining marriage federally made this moot now though, right?

Well, then, look at it this way. WE have a giggle here. If an NGO was funding any of these freaky organizations of Bis/Tris/homofools... for the purpose of breaking our marital institution

THAN, these homo freaks will probably move to Canada/UK....

:)

He has posed for nude photos and was the winner in a "prettiest penis" contest sponsored by a New York bar called Cake.

I am going to throw up. It's too ealry in the morning for this.

This may be the ultimate uphill political run

Sunday, August 10, 2003

STAFF WRITER

Jim Morrison may be the most unusual candidate in New Jersey.

He is 32 years old, a lawyer, and brand new in politics. He does not have the backing of his party's leadership. His main claim to fame is that he was a runner-up on the reality TV program "The Mole," during which he discussed being gay.

But if any of these might be considered political drawbacks, his biggest hurdle could be this: Morrison is a Democrat in rock-ribbed Republican Sussex County.

As of the June 3 primary election in which Morrison won on a write-in campaign, there were about 80,000 registered voters in Sussex County, according to Clerk Erma Gormley. There were 42,000 voters who have not declared a party affiliation, almost 29,000 Republicans, and barely 8,300 Democrats.

As if that weren't enough of a handicap, Morris is going head-to-head with state Sen. Robert E. Littell, who has represented the 24th District - all of Sussex and a few towns in Hunterdon and Morris - since 1968, first as assemblyman and since 1990 as state senator. In fact Littell, a Republican, recently received the tacit, but public, endorsement of Governor McGreevey, a Democrat, and he does not seem concerned by Morrison, his opponent in November. Littell would only say: "I don't know the gentleman. Anybody is entitled to run."

During a recent interview in the Lake Lenape home he shares with his grandmother, Morrison said: "I still get people coming up to me to talk about 'The Mole' at the ShopRite in Newton. This dovetails right into politics, which is 90 percent name recognition, and Jim Morrison is like Mickey Mouse, one of those names people routinely write in on ballots."

Morrison, who practices law in Newton with his mother and father, lost whatever support he had among his party's leaders when they found out he had entered a "pretty penis" contest at a gay bar during his law school days at Columbia University.

Nor did he deny it: "If you are going to print that, print that I won the contest," he said. "If this was meant to embarrass me, it backfired. I've had so many callers say, 'If you're honest about this, you certainly won't lie about other things.'"

Though Morrison is having a good time running against Littell, he takes his candidacy seriously because, he says, the issues are serious ones: the economy, the drop in federal aid, funding for schools, and sprawl.

"The Bush administration is far more conservative than Reagan's was," he said. "They are de-funding the federal government, which means that state governments are forced to make huge slashes. There is a crisis in state government.

"I don't know Mr. Littell. Probably he was a good representative when he began, but the main issue now is the arrogance of the incumbents. They assume the office is theirs. The system is of influence at the State House or at the federal level. The system is way beyond broken. It is time for new ideas.

"For instance there is an entire industry devoted to lowering taxes. I think enough is enough of pandering, saying 'You need your taxes lowered.' When you're sitting in an emergency room and can't afford health insurance, that's taxing. When you're sitting in traffic on Route 15, that's taxing. Or if your child has no arts programs in public school, that's taxing."

Morrison, who said he favors shifting most school funding from property to income tax, added that he is "saddened and enraged listening to Republicans devise class warfare by saying 'our property tax money is going to pay for education in Camden, Newark, and Paterson.' Hey, it is in our interest to see that all kids in this state get a good education."

Sprawl is a consuming issue in Sussex. Morrison said he recently attended a Planning Board meeting in Hampton Township at which approval was given to build a Lowe's store. "I was the only one in the audience," he said.

"I said my piece, that not 12 miles away in Mount Olive is a Lowe's. They are building a Home Depot in Newton, and there are at least four Home Depots within 25 miles.

"We're in the most densely populated state, but look around you in Sussex County. You could be in Kentucky or Iowa, it is so open and beautiful. We can do Roxbury or Wayne or Parsippany in Sussex. We can do that. But once it's done, you can't get it back. Development is not always bad, but it must be with an eye toward what we are in Sussex."

Morrison thinks the combination of being personally candid and offering a serious agenda will be a popular combination.

"I'm trying to be a different politician," he concluded. "We deserve to have people in office we can trust."
