On FreeRepublic.com there have been thousands of polls freeped in the name of conservatism and traditional values. Some have been influential in stopping an action, some have influenced a decision, and most all have made an impact for what we believe in. I am hoping that every believing FReeper will sign this petition to try to save marriage as we know it. If you believe that man and woman are meant to be together and are part of the natural order of the universe, then please sign the petition. If you believe a male or female should have the right to marry whatever or whomever they wish, then don't sign it. Sign the petition here: http://www.grassfire.net/32/petition.asp?PID=4126742
TOPICS: Constitution/Conservatism; Culture/Society; Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: family; god; manwoman; marriage; marriageamendment; traditional
Grassfire.net intends to deliver 250,000 signatures (petitions) to Capitol Hill within 30 days. Please help them out by making this a reality. This organization puts their money where their mouth is and takes hard action by delivering the desires of Americans to the lawmakers. We can make a difference just as those who want to destroy society are doing. If a stand is not taken now, all is lost.

The problem is that you and they are defining "lawmakers" as Senators and Reps. The malignant lawmakers they need to address are SCOTUS, and therefore immune to therapy.

True in pinciple. However, don't you believe that if a second American revolution occurs that these black-robed scum will hear the will of the people? People have to stop talking and take action, one way or another.

"And Georgia struck down the very same law that the United States Supreme Court upheld in Bowers.."
The Georgia Supreme Court noted:
The individual's right to freely exercise his or her liberty is not dependent upon whether the majority believes such exercise to be moral, dishonorable, or wrong. Simply because something is beyond the pale of "majoritarian morality" does not place it beyond the scope of constitutional protection. To allow the moral indignation of a majority (or, even worse, a loud and/or radical minority) to justify criminalizing private consensual conduct would be a strike against freedoms paid for and preserved by our forefathers.

Well, if only one party of a pair (duo)(couple)(two beings)(two lifeforms) gives consent, would that make it consensual? Then, theoretically, a man (or a woman) could choose a horse to wed. Tape recording conversations on the phone - if one person is aware of the conversation being recorded, is it within the law? If the age of consent is 16 in a certain state, would the law let it slide if the person was 15 years and 364 days? Is this forum conservative or libertine? Is libertine the same as libertarian?
