Gee, I'm sorry to hear about your Mom. Would a defibrillator work for her? It has helped my hubby's mental state knowing that he has it to shock his heart if it stops. I've never heard of anyone so young getting shingles. Yes, anyone who has had them will tell you the pain is horrific. Hubby was hospitalized twice with his and I almost lost him then due to drug overdose by the stupid doctor. I changed his doctor and he finally got better, but he will tell you also that it is the worst pain he has ever experienced. That coming from a person who suffers from gout. His eye and head still pains him. I had the shingles last summer myself. I had one little spot on my back and it hurt around my shoulder and down my right arm, but it didn't last very long and didn't bother me too much. I considered myself blessed to have such a light case.

Is your Mom a native of Ala.? I grew up there you know.

A pacemaker is the next step for my mom if meds can't get her heart regulated soon. She's a Georgia girl - like me - but moved to Alabama several years ago to live on a lake.

My hubby is wierd! He had shingles before chickenpox - which is supposedly impossible.
