Go With God Senator Thurmond. A Prayer in Hebrew.
Personal Reflections | June 26, 2003 | PeaceCorpsGuy

The Jewish tradition mandates us to recite the Mourners Prayer or Kaddish following the death of a family member or friend. The theme of Kaddish is rather the Greatness of God as a being. In Memory and in Honor of Senator Thurmond, I urge us all to pray for the late Senators family.

Hebrew Version: Yisgadal v'yiskadash sh'may raho, B'olmo deev-vro birusay, v'yamloch mal-busay, Bh-yah-boh uvyo-mayhon, uv-ha-yahd' hol hays yisrael, Ba-a-go-lo u-vizman ko-reev, v'im-ru omayn.

Y'hay ah'may ra-ho m'vorab, l'olam ul-ol-may-yo. Yisborah v'yish-tabab, v'yispoar v'yisomamm V'yis-na-yah, v'yis-hadar, v'yisaleh, v'yishalal sh'may d'kud sho b'rib hu;

L'ay-lo min kol bir-ho-so v'shee-roso, Tush-b'ho-so v'ne-heh-mo-so, da-a-mee-ron b'ol-mo, V'lim-ru Amen.

Y'hay sh'lo-mo ra-bo mon sh'ma-yo, V'ha-yeem o-lay-nu v'al kol yisrael b'im ru Amen. O'se shalom bim-ro-mov hu-ya-asay shalom O-lay-nu v'al kol yisrael v'im-run Amen.

In English: Glorified and sancitifed be God's great name throughout the world which He has created according to His will. May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days, and within the life of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon; and say, Amen.

May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.

Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, beyond all the blessing and hymns, praises and consolations that are ever spoken in the world; and say Amen.

May there be abundat peace from heaven, and life, for us and for all Israel; and say Amen.

He who creates peace in His celestial heights, may He create peace for us and for all Israel; and say Amen.

Very nice. I would add this also:

Psalm 91

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

Surely He will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with His feathers,
and under His wings you will find refuge;
His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you make the Most High your dwelling --
even the LORD, who is my refuge --
then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
For He will command His angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

"Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation.

Yes, it's pretty clear he fathered a daughter by a black woman. She is now in her 70s. MSN had piece on it recently. There's more than one story about it on the web. Short of a tearful reunion (impossible now) on Oprah, you just have to examine the evidence. I think it's a compelling enough case.

I think it's an interesting story because he did pay her way through college and make sure she got a good start in life on the one hand, even as he fought hard for segregation on the other.

Could it be......that he stood up for his principles on the one hand, and for his responsibilities on the other, when his morals fell short of his principles?

Do you think the news stories could be possibly in circulation by the same people who execrated the practice when Bill Clinton's morals were the topic?

My faith commands me to try to see sinful mankind in light of God's redemptive sacrifice on the cross, so I'm never too surprised when some admirable character is revealed to be less than perfect. I never expect people to be perfect, but sometimes it hurts to be informed otherwise.

But hey, if this happened it was a long time ago, and he did the right thing in providing for her.

About the Clinton connection, it's certainly possible, I hadn't thought of that. I wonder if G.W. Bush's military record will be resurrected in the liberal press, thirty years after the fact.

I think we can rely on it, that associates of Joe Conason or Eric Alterman are beavering away on that very subject as we type.

Yeah, that liberal media really raked President Bush over the coals for that one, didn't they?
