You hit on a key truth. Why did the left hate Nixon? 1) He built his career on anti-Communism (as Ann Coulter points out). And 2) (just as big a reason) he was a Republican.

2 things come to mind: his debate (as VP) with Khruschev (sp?) and the diplomatic opening to China, which helped to weaken the USSR.

The former is an interesting point. How did the second help, though?

hackworth is a liberal? You are kidding, right?
To: My2Cents
So then Nixon reviled himself, given that he was far to the left of Bill Clinton. OK. My point still stands, Coulter's argument has no basis in fact.
Nixon was a leftist, he can't be reviled by the left unless he reviled himself.
And to say that those on the left aren't patriotic is a slap in the face to folks on the left who gave their lives to defend our freedom. Look, I hate the policies of the left, but it is idiotic to suggest that folks like John Kerrey, Daniel Inoue, and others who fought for their country are guilty of committing treason and aren't patriotic. Books like Coulter, on the whole, do a disservice to Conservatives. You don't see folks like Will, Saffire or Buckley resorting to such inflamatory rhetoric. We can disagree with our "friends" on the left without resorting to this kind of drivel.

Since his best buddy is Gen. Shinseki what other conclusion can be drawn?
To: OldFriend
Gen. Shineki - isn't he the guy that was villified by daring to suggest that Wolfowitz was wrong on the size and scope of an occupation force needed in Iraq? Hmm, who was right?
(Yes, Shinseki should be court marshalled over the beret issue).

(What's in the Constitution isn't. And vice-versa.)
To: stimpyone
Shinseki spent the entire war criticizing Franks and Rumsfeld. He's been a lame duck who has refused to leave.
Backstabbing in public is unbecoming an officer........but that's just my opinion. I would prefer that our troops not be subjected to jealous rants when they are risking their lives.
To: stimpyone
OK, Nixon was a leftist...and you're stuck in an intellectual rut. The fact you can't grasp my point -- actually the point Ann Coulter has made -- indicates the futility of continuing this exchange. Good-bye.

Sean Hannity has become an embarassment...he is definitely an example of the peter principle.

Jones is the biggest wind bag on the planet, . . .A human whoopee cushion.

Sadly enough I hve to agree with the comment made by a freeper. Sean's written more books than he's read.
He seems to think tired old rhetoric beats research on the topic at hand.
To: OldFriend
I tried to read his book....that's when the light turned on for me. He doesn't have an original thought in his head. I guess i have really become disgusted with the whole bunch...O'Reilly, Sean, Rush, Coulter etc....They just seem like shysters looking to write or say something with a hook that people want to hear... maybe i shouldn't be that way...i remember a time when conservative rantings were hard to come by....i am just leery about a lot of them. I question Dennis Miller's miraculous conversion from the dark side. I have at least lived long enough to see that people who throw too many rocks usually get taken down a notch...hence Coulter.

I love Ann also.Talk about an attack. Can’t stand Whoppi and Joy, and Barbra is starting to sound just like them. They are part of the problem that this country is facing. It is no longer popular to stand up for your Christian beliefs or your country.Praise the gay, single mother liberal life style. The only reason I would watch the show is for Elizabeth.
