Man Convicted Of Murder For Torturing, Eating Roommate
Jury To Decide If Aspiring Rapper Was Sane At Time Of Crime
POSTED: 9:23 a.m. EDT June 26, 2003
COMPTON, Calif -- An aspiring rapper was convicted Wednesday of murder and aggravated mayhem in the April 2002 slaying of a woman who authorities say had her chest ripped open and one of her lungs partially eaten.
A Superior Court jury deliberated less than an hour before returning the guilty verdicts against Antron Singleton, 26. Jurors will now consider Singleton's plea of insanity at the time of the murder. Prosecutors said they are not seeking the death penalty.
The body of Tynisha Ysais, who was stabbed to death, was found in her southeast Los Angeles apartment. Authorities testified that the 21-year-old woman's chest had been cut open and her right lung, which had been removed, appeared chewed and torn.
Singleton, whose stage name was Big Lurch, was arrested after he was spotted walking naked on a street with his mouth, chest and abdomen covered in blood.
Ysais' boyfriend, Thomas Moore, testified that he and Singleton had been smoking PCP the night before the killing.

Ysais' boyfriend, Thomas Moore, testified that he and Singleton had been smoking PCP the night before the killing I was drunk, so I'm not responsible
I was on drugs, so I'm not responsible
I was really tired, so I'm not responsible
She made me mad, so I'm not responsible
It was a crime of passion, so I'm not responsible
However, I'm feeling pretty responsible now, so can I go home?

Ohhhhh, it's true alright. He's a wanna-be Rapper who was getting a bit of interest from someone who wanted to make money off of him.Allegedly it was suggested he do something for a bit of notoriety,to gain some publicity.(How on earth can one differentiate oneself from one Rapper to the next is beyond me)Who would've thought this would occur, right? In the original story, months ago, it was suggested the drugs were supplied by the 'smalltime'record company. It's beyond disgusting.

Why no death penalty? I asked the same question when OJ was tried. It might have assured at least a jury with an IQ in the normal range.

I think most rappers have the potential for this sort of behavior if they get high enough.

Well stated. The perp should be permanently rehabilitated, about an hour after his conviction.

Why no death penalty? He only killed her and partially ate her. No animals, trees, or gays were affected.
