The California State Senate is continuing debate on the State Budget. They just recessed
I thought you should all know that according to Senator Debra Bowen (D-Redondo Beach) by not wanting to increase taxes, Republicans are now taking away children's hearing.
Yes. He claims that without $8 billion in new taxes there will be no funding for poor children's hearing aids. Thus Republicans are denying kids the ability to hear.

Rubbish. I'm far too busy kicking old people to worry about deaf kids... yet.

On a positive note, at least they would not be able to hear the Democ-RATS yammering. Might even be a blessing.

One of my daughter's teacher's about flipped when i told him I was a conservative. He LITERALY fumbled the sheaf of papers he was holding. "But...... but..... you CAN'T be! You're so NICE! You don't mean SOCIALLY, do you? "
He was REALLY rattled.
I about hurt myself laughing at the poor young man, and I told him that not every conservative was Simon La Gree You guys will have to excuse me. I need to go shut down an orphange aand take away Social Security.

So, now they can't hear as they go through our liberal schools. What exactly is the problem? Maybe those mean Republicans can ban all hearing aids from school and only allow them for private use (not on school grounds).

You people really are quite short-sighted when it comes to fiscal dscipline. Your president has given us a 400 billion dollar a year deficit - but you are complaining about a tax hike of rich people - to help deaf kids hear. Pathetic. scottfanetti

Hey Scott... why dont you pay for your own deaf kid's hearing aids instead of mooching off the STATE?!

Why is it ok to allow the government to take by force anyone's money. Because it benefits you? What about the people without legs? You would gladly take the money for your cause and leave them in the dust (no pun intended)
Private charities would work much better if the gov't wasn't taking all the money. Don't tell me its ok to take one person's money becuase of the amount they have!!

Would someone like to explain to me why I have to buy my own children's needs and then are forced to give to other people's children through my taxes? I don't mind giving to others, I do all the time, but why can't the parents of these children take some responsibility.
My neighbor has a child who is very handicapped. They do not take anything from the government (eventhough this child is eligible for many programs). Their insurance covers 80% of things like orthodics and wheelchairs. They pay the other 20% out of pocket. Given a choice, I would rather give my neighbor my portion of tax and screw those lazy-a$$ parents who look to the government for everything.

It's simple... ALL programs should be cut, because governments have gone far beyond their requirements. Leave things like hearing aids and wheelchairs and soup kitchens to real charities, who are far more frugal and efficient with donations.

Each hearing aid costs 5 - 7 thousand dollars. I am HOH myself. My hearing aid, which is a cross system, only cost $1200. $5-7k usually is for those hearing aids which are in the ear. The ones which hang on the outside of the ear w/ a piece in the ear are cheaper.

but you are complaining about a tax hike of rich people Actually I'm worried about the tax on the average family like mine. It's all we can do to make ends meet without coughing up a few thousand bucks year more for our welfare state.
