what the heck is going on over there? We are losing more guys now then when all the stuff was hitting the fan months ago. My son just got over there last week, so I would think the Iraqis' should stop shooting at us right now.

This is starting to get totally out of hand. We have to get the troops needed to get in there, lock down the borders, root these people out and kill them, otherwise people are going to start thinking that this really is another Vietnam.

Its an organized effort by Ba'athists as well as Islamic extremists answering some muslim leaders call for attacks on Americans. This part of the conflict is the most difficult and unpredictable.
Trying to win the people over but having to deal with instigators going to quiet neighborhoods, attacking so that Americans will have to attack and then become hated in said neighborhood and this is repeated all over Iraq.
They find a town that likes the Americans, try to kill a few, cause the Americans to not be as nice and the town turns on us. Its a difficult task and I think we will need some more international forces in there to take some of the burden off the US while we stabilize (or try)

Not only Baathists but also the foreigners who went into the country just before the war to create havoc. They hate us also. I am sure if Saddam is alive this is part of this plan to drive us out of Iraq. He can't get an army together but he can do it slowly but surely with these NUTJOBS who are more than happy to serve him and I am sure are getting alot of money from him. Don't forget he smuggled at least a billion out of the country.

It's time to leave! You've got to be kidding. Have you learned nothing about these people in the past year and a half?
Look how our leaving Somalia emboldened Osama Bin Laden.
We can become an extremely unpleasant occupying force if we must, but we absolutely cannot LEAVE.
