The 5th and last sign .... always was "Burma Shave" and we all got that one right - yelling it out.

A GUY WHO DRIVES
A CAR WIDE OPEN
IS NOT THINKIN'
HE'S JUST HOPIN'
I would think that anybody who's in a car that needs a roof to protect themselves from anything other than the rain or the sun has a much bigger problem at the moment than not having a roof.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
I recall acually anticipating the signs when I rode in the family car, (a Packard) on vacation trips. We had a lot of fun reading them!

Farewell, o verse
Beside the road
How sad to know
You're out of mode

Couple other faves:
Beneath this vale
Of toil and sin
Your head grows bald
But not your chin.

Go home-eo."

"Wide open" is a euphamism for full throttle, not a convertible.
