[history]
Democrats in the state Senate floated a budget proposal on Tuesday. Republicans sank it. Democrats will blame Republicans' anti-tax torpedos, but this budget wasn't seaworthy. It didn't cut nearly enough expenses to get state spending in line with a realistic projection of future revenues.

This is exactly what the Republicans need to do, often! Start outing the mess the Democrats got us into, and refuse to take half-measures to get it corrected.
List the things the Dems are and have been doing wrong. Offer an alternative.
The media is going to be paying attention to this, it's now or never to put our own plans out there for the public to review.
It's now or never to demand a change, removal of the idiots who got us in this mess.

I'm stunned.
An entire Murky News editorial without a single "might," "could," "possibly," or "conceivably."

But the sales tax wasn't what was wrong with the Democratic proposal. More equivocation from the Mercury News on taxes (they always cover their behinds somewhere in every editorial for their faithful liberal following in the valley). The Mercury News never saw a tax increase they didn't like.
