Buddy, R.I.P.

Everybody knows that lefties of all stripes are concerned, compassionate, tolerant, and generous. It's the right that's mean-spirited, spiteful, reactionary and extreme. Now comes Julia Gorin, author of The Buddy Chronicles to spoil this picture. Damn!

Julia Gorin is a columnist and standup comic who on January 4, 2002 published an op-ed piece in the Philadelphia Inquirer in which she expressed anguish over the accidental death some days before--he was hit by a car--of Buddy, a chocolate Labrador retriever resident in the Clinton Chappaqua cottage. You can read a copy of the op-ed piece, Buddy's Dead, Is Anyone Surprised? here.

You can gather from the title that the Inquirer piece was not entirely complimentary to the Clintons. Miss Gorin ascribed Buddy's death to the indifference of his owners to his well-being. She opined--anagramatically appropriate in op-ed--that their indifference was consistent with the former First Couple's usual operating mode. She suggested that Buddy's accidental demise was predictable. Her sadness did not prevent Miss Gorin, a humor professional, from making a quip or two. Consider this terse summary, "So Buddy's dead. Socks they gave away. Has anybody seen Chelsea?"

The op-ed piece contained a warning, "...then again, one shouldn't rush to judgment, since we don't yet know the full story. Maybe Buddy wanted to die. Maybe he pulled a Vince Foster. Perhaps he had seen and heard too much in that house, was privy to too many unspeakable schemes and just couldn't take the guilt."

Miss Gorin's piece was moved on the Knight-Ridder wire and picked up by almost a dozen other newspapers. The storm of e-mail, what Miss Gorin terms an "e-lynching," began. Can you imagine, Clinton supporters were offended.

They weren't mollified by another piece Gorin wrote two weeks later for the Washington Times in which she let the world know that Zeke, a cocker spaniel the Clintons owned back in their Arkansas days, had gone off to canine heaven as a result of being run over by a car. Miss Gorin reported the outpouring of e-mail critical of her, some 600 by then. They are the core of her recently published book, The Buddy Chronicles. It's a hoot and a half, grand fun, instructive, too, a restorative to dip into when your spirits are sagging. How cool to read this e-mail to Gorin from Tarsha Crockett:

Madame: YOU ARE A PIECE OF SHIT! And, I won't waste my valuable time going into detail, because I'm sure that your life reflects the worthlessness that you must feel in order to write such vile hatefulness about the former (ELECTED) President and his family. P.S. There is a special place in Hell reserved for haters like you. (p. 72)

Who needs to risk liver damage from an ice cold martini or a lift-fit from a Zoloft tablet when you can get the same result by flipping open a copy of The Buddy Chronicles and reading this gem from Ken Oldknow on page 52.

You are a twisted and sick person. I can not put in words how sick you are. When you meet our maker, he is going to have a field day with you, and for the good of the world I hope that day is soon.

You can buy a paperback copy of The Buddy Chroncles at www.bruiserbooks.com. It's full of good stuff, including some approving e-mails from sensible correspondents. It's a perfect corrective to the lefty myth of tolerance and decency.

The question is, WHICH *Buddy* are we talking about, *Buddy I* or the *Buddy II* stand-in that replaced him after the first dog shyed away from Clinton at White House photo-ops. And what ever happened to *Buddy I,* I wonder?

*More info here*.

And don't forget about the missing Gore family poodle *Coconut*, either. Poor animals.

Obviously, Buddy (both I and II) walked in and started humping Hillary's leg while she was soliciting ChiCom campaign donations, and were "Arkanicided.""

Ah. Sort of like the lesbian Secret Service agent who'd formerly been assigned to Chelsea's Secret Service protective detail. One more problem out of the way.

That book, The Buddy Chronicles, those terrible curses hurled at Gorin in place of political argument, is really very funny. If you have any lefty friends, show them that book and shut them up. Show them what the Left really. full of resentment, angry at America.
