Excellent point. From the fan point of view, if a person has no interest in the sport then no amount of outreach will generate that interest. From the racer point of view, it would be disastrous to force an affirmative action quota onto racing teams. There are some jobs that absolutely must be filled based on skill and experience and not skin color or gender--building, maintaining, and driving these tin-can rockets are among those jobs. Anything less will get people on the track and in the stands killed.

Well, yeah, but 'Doctor' is another one of those jobs, and it hasn't stopped AA in medical schools.
