[history]
It is 1942, France has been overrun by the Germans who have installed a puppet regime in Vichy. Out of a clear sky, comes a thunderclap report: Great Britain has made a deal with Vichy. Since the fall of France in June 1940, Charles de Gaulle has been living legally in Britain as he organized the democratic resistance to Fascism. Suddenly it is announced that the British have agreed to extradite de Gaulle to Nazi-occupied France and to certain death.

It is.
The MKO wants to set up a Marxist state in Iran, a "People's Democratic Republic" similar to that found in North Korea. They fought on Saddam's side during the Iraq-Iran War and helped him to suppress the 1991 uprising. Don't feel any pity for this communist scum.

The point is France let them be all this time and chose to cozy up to the mullahs at this crucial moment,I think.

Oh definitely.
The only plausible explanation as to why the MKO would be rounded up right now is that the Iranians will swap their leadership for al-Qaeda's or if they were in fact planning attacks against France for failing to prevent the US from removing their principle patron (Saddam), as one source has already indicated. If neither are true, then this is simply a poor attempt to curry favor with the ayatollahs.
In any event, the MKO is hard-core Marxist, so I'm not going to waste time sympathizing with them when there are hundreds of thousands of ordinary Iranians who don't regard Stalin as some kind of a misunderstood genius.
