Worth a ping. Please, check out some of his articles. Looks like each of them warrants a separate thread.

"Moral Stupidity" by Orson Scott Card would have made this clearer...I was confused as to what to expect from Card from this Subject line.

You are right, my fault. Can Admin change to put the quotes to read "Moral Stupidity", please?

I met Mr. Card at a book signing here in San Jose, he's a very engaging and thoughtful individual.

Great post! I was in the library yesterday, looking for some summer reading (I usually read sci fi as summer diversionary reading) and persued the Orson Scott Card books (I've never read him). Considering all of the entertainment types I've crossed off my list recently (see hollywoodhalfwits.com), it's nice to have a new author that I won't feel pangs of guilt in reading.

I was expecting to hear some moral stupidity from</i< Card, and was very grateful not to. He's a great author ('Ender's Game' is fantastic) and I am glad to retain my high opinion of him.

I was looking over Larry Niven's books, too, at the library! Thanks for the tip.

Wow. Card's a great sci-fi writer, but I had no idea he was so prolific on politics.

So we should arm Hamas?
Now you're just being silly.

If you are new to Card then my humble suggestion is to start with "Ender's Game". It is fantastic.

he's intellectually lazy in his failure to address the great imbalance of conventional military power between the Palestinians and Israelis and account for it in his moral calculusPlease fill us in. How would taking that imbalance into account have changed his moral calculus?

Are you insinuating that a lack of means on the "Palestinian" side creates a moral equivalence by default?
If so, you just might need to glance at a mirror periodically while re-reading the above article.

Ender's Game. The best Sci Fi I've ever read.
