Big Bump! The ALA is just another Far-left America-hating snake pit. They cry "Censorship!" when asked to shield children from porn or to protect America from terrorists, but sit on their hands when Castro murders and imprisons his people.

"This is not, and never has been, an issue of intellectual freedom, books or libraries," said Ann Sparanese, an ALA board member who also belongs to the Venceremos Brigade, a U.S. group that has supported Castro's revolution for three decades. [snip]
She wrote: "Unless you believe and promote the idea that no country has the right to protect its sovereignty including our own and that every country is required to allow the free infusion of foreign funds to corrupt its political processes including our own then you need to categorically reject the argument that this is an intellectual freedom issue."
She's half right. It's not an "intellectual freedom issue." It's both an intellectual freedom issue and an intellectual honesty issue.
I have said for years that of all liberals, the library liberals are the loopiest of them all. They fight tooth and nail to defend the perceived right of children to access pornography while simultaneously soft-pedaling book banning and the arrest of book distributors in Cuba.

Maybe he should have gone to the Cuban Library Association, instead.
After all, Cuba is outside the ALA's jurisdiction. At least, for now.

I've been a lurker on the ALA-OIF email list for a number of years now. A liberal, America hating snakepit indeed. The organization/list is littered with socialists, Marxists, Chomsky/Parenti/Zinn adherents, and a vulgar, filthy "anarchist" who fancies himself an "intellectual." That isn't to mention the homosexual activists and child sex proponents with their own intermittent input. As George Will has said in the past: "A sewer of ideas."
And a Cuban librarian is looking for support from these people to target the utopian Socialist Worker's paradise of Cuba?
Haaaaa, haaa, haaaa!! :-D
