Gov. Warner At Home: Party Animal
Washington Post ^ | Tuesday, June 24, 2003 | Lloyd Grove

Posted on 06/24/2003 6:42:44 AM PDT by putupon

The downtown nightclub Home, with its sexed-up "bedroom" theme, is the sort of place where twenty-something women sporting bare midriffs and navel rings loll about on futons with older men in tight T-shirts.

It's not the sort of place where one expects to meet the governor of Virginia.

So our spy, a 26-year-old female journalist who asked that we not publish her name, was a tad surprised in the wee hours Sunday when she spotted 48-year-old Mark Warner coming out of the men's room in The Attic, the club's top-floor VIP

Here's some good ones, but I have some that are better:

It's also no coincidence, Sabato said, that state attorney general Jerry Kilgore had included his office in the lawsuit. Kilgore, a Republican, has his eyes on the governor's mansion,.....

"Whether it's good for the state or for the universities, it's wholly irrelevant," Sabato said of the politicians' maneuvers. "That's the problem."

"Some really unwise and dangerous things have been said here," Sabato said. "For example, there are many legislators who have degrees from Virginia Tech. One said that if (the University of Virginia) dares to block (Virginia Tech's move to the ACC), they would go about killing any legislation that would benefit (the University of Virginia), including, I assume, appropriations."

.... "They're using pretty blunt instruments," Sabato said of the politicians' maneuvering in the state.

.....

"Most blunt instruments are," Sabato said. "They usually meet at the mark and result in murder."Some politicians also grabbed the high ground here. Nine U.S. senators, including both senators from Virginia ......... sent a letter to the presidents of Miami.

We're not feeling any love in C'ville right now, and we will remember how Jack Boots Kilgore and Benedict Allen teamed up with Marky Mark.

Did I tell how it's already been posted on the 'net where Kilgore parks on game day?

Oh man, how lame. Michael Graham says the guv's reaction is all because he's busted with his wife. He said that wives aren't happy if the husband is out having a good time and that Marky Mark knew that and knew there would be h*ll to pay once Lisa Collis finds out about his antics. Sheesh, lame, lame, lame.

The guy's a democrat after all - marital vows mean little.

Thanks for the ping! I've never heard of the nightclub, but then I don't get down to D.C. much. Doesn't sound like a wise move to be caught there by the WP when one's wife and children are in EUROPE! Gee whiz, I can't help but be reminded of Chuck Robb. I was wondering why Warner had that goofy dye-job on his hair at the Patriots' Rally in Richmond. He's been running around incognito!

Keep us posted on what Michael Graham does with the story and if callers seem to care. No chance of mistaken identity, I take it. Democrats!

That's the second time you've made that statement (or at least the second time I've seen it).

Are you issuing a veiled threat toward the top law enforcement official of the Commonwealth? Or his property?

I can't imagine any other reason that information would be relevant.

That's the second time you've made that statement.

That's why I asked had I already told you, a simple answer of "yes you have" would suffice.

I can't imagine any other reason that information would be relevant.

The relevance is this (do I have to explain everything?). The quote of the post was used only as an example of how the strong arming of Mr. Jefferson's University is viewed by it's supporters. Anti Big Government emotions are running high in Charlottesville right now, add the alcohol consumption often seen on game days, well, you never know.

Of course, it is a Jefferson ideal to throw off the tyranny of oppressive government by use of force when necessaary.

Cornwallis didn't surrender at Yorktown because a court order told him to.

Sabato "many legislators who have degrees from Virginia Tech. One said that if (the University of Virginia) dares to block (Virginia Tech's move to the ACC), they would go about killing any legislation that would benefit (the University of Virginia), including, I assume, appropriations."

What's the matter with Sabato quoting ya'll? You wouldn't be embarassed that your people in the legislature are threatening us? It has achieved it's intentemded purpose.

The Warner/Kilgore government thuggery has won. Vippy Sue gets forced in the ACC should it wish.

All they have to do is change sides just one more time.

First two-faced on the original attempt to get in, then three faced flipping back to BE loyalty (loyalty?VT? snicker, snicker) now the fourth face will have to be put on to go flip to the ACC.

What a bunch of hypocrites.

And since you don't like Saboto's quotes, try this one from a Hokie who replied on one of my threads:

"Once upon a time, a long time ago, I was the Honor Council Chairman and later, the Chief Justice, of the VPI Civilian Honor court. We were investigating the athletics department. They were sending out ringers to take SAT for less than bright high school seniors who were good on the field but lousy in the class room. A late night visit by some jocks to our penthouse room in O'Shaughnessy put and end to the investigation and many other things. Needless to say, I have had a very poor opinion about VaTech athletics every since then."

Welcome (not) to the ACC

Michael Graham was so lame about this. Sheesh. I don't know what I expected but to blame his reaction on what his wife is gonna say when she finds out is just soooooo totally lame. Most of the callers were lame too. Maybe nobody cares about Warner since he's probably a one-hit wonder.

And, another thing, his wife ought to get a whole lotta cr*p if she's traveling in FRANCE!!!! I don't know what the itinerary is but FRANCE ought not be on the agenda.....

Thanks for the Michael Graham report. Sounds like he's playing it safe. I noticed the France connection, too. Being a lib dem, she's probably over there on behalf of the Dixie Chicks.

I think I decided why Michael Graham's take on this bothered me. Most normal people expect their leaders to show respect for the voters and for the office they hold. Showing up at a questionable bar while wifey is out of town shows a total lack of respect for the wife, the voters and the office. Whether or not something "wrong" was going on, most normal people expect their leaders to behave in a more decorous manner. This was one thing of many that gnawed at us about Clinton. He totally disrespected the office and by extension, the voters.

Michael, hon, if you're lurking, you missed it on this one. But I still love your show. You're soooo much better than Alan Price.

I like Michael's show too. But he should have been on the attack on this one, like he was when he took on the mayor of Richmond. Also, I do think Michael is more of a Libertarian than was Alan Price.
