You also don't recognize sarcasm or irony very well.

...but makes clear that racial preferences must be used sparingly.

Riiiight. That'll happen.

Great post I just heard the same on Limbaugh's show, after you posted it.

What's really sad is that, after hearing clap trap like that, there will still be whites who will vote for the other party come November 2004.

I guess you're more pessimistic than I am.

IMHO, the fact that the Left have fought so fiercely for these antiquated AA policies demonstrate the difficulty of achieving racial quotas without race as the primary factor.

Race as a factor is much more difficult to use to achieve a desired number.

I've read enough about the college admission process to know that there are too many variables and unknowns that can derail any surreptitious quota system.

Here you go again with your blind hatred of libertarians.

If libertarians bashed the commies/socialist/democrats even half as much as they bash Bush and the republicans, they might be accorded a smidgeon of respect; but none until then.

It's clever because it exposed the hypocrisy of that argument.

"...'racial diversity' is Marxist prattle. I think you know that the leftist definition of racial diversity is completely different than the uniquely American 'melting pot' idea that doesn't value group identity over being an American."

Quote of the day.

No I haven't seen it. Not fully up to speed of events happening as we post.

I think I am seeing ahead. I am thinking that the Left and race baiters will never give up and will find a loop hole. I am drawing attention to the fact that there is nothing stopping them from using race as a factor in undergraduate admissions so long as they don't use a POINT SYSTEM.

I see the decision as a big loss for the goal of a fair and color blind society.

That said I haven't read the decision yet but judging by the reactions of the posters on this message thread, I think it is a loss.

Ultimately the way out is by setting the standard in the private sector which will involve tax reform and defunding at the state level. A hard road to travel in any case.

"I believe that only property owners should vote. Does that make me racist?"

No, it makes you a hypocrite.

And that's in effect the same as few (emphasis on "few") private colleges and universities here.

In effect, emphasized. We're talking about two different things. It's not a false analogy because the end result for the unjustly rejected applicants is roughly the same: pay through your nose to attend a public university in a communist country (bribery), or pay through your nose to attend a private university in freedom loving America.

Thank you, my fellow American. Listen to Rush if you get the chance today, as he is skewering pro-'diversity' callers.

Says Rush: What makes diversity possible? Liberty.

I watched that Rainbow/Push Democratic candidate forum on CSPAN yesterday.

This is a fight to the death, IMO. They want to destroy America.

"I believe that only property owners should vote. Does that make me racist?

"Our diversity truly used to be our strength, because all of the different groups that came together as Americans added something to the culture and BECAME AMERICAN. Not black, white, green, purple, Irish, Italian, Jewish, Catholic, short, fat, male, female. AMERICAN. You know -- the greatest country in the world..."

...if you have enough money to own property that is.

Still not sure what you mean, but property ownership is not denied by race, religion, weight or gender. Anyone can own property.

I wouldn't say I am pessimistic. I am looking at the decision as a loss, a setback. If race is used in the admissions process, this alone will transform the culture from one of achievement to one of entitlement. How this setback will be reverse, I do not know, but I am not pessimistic, just not seeing a clear way to advance the goal of a colorblind society without banning race as a criterion for a decision.

You are fixated on class.

Should we introduce a caste system in the US?

Americans should provide a personal balance sheet when applying for a voter's registration.

"Anyone can own property."

Sure...anyone with sufficient cash or credit.

A class system in the US...nice.

The great Abraham Lincoln tells it best. He said:

If we shall suppose that American Slavery is one of those offences which, in the providence of God, must needs come, but which, having continued through His appointed time, He now wills to remove, and that He gives to both North and South, this terrible war, as the woe due to those by whom the offence came, shall we discern therein any departure from those divine attributes which the believers in a Living God always ascribe to Him? Fondly do we hope--fervently do we pray--that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue, until all the wealth piled by the bond-man's two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash, shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said "the judgments of the Lord, are true and righteous altogether"

(It would seem - according to the court - that the blood spilled on the battlefields of the civil war was not repayment enough for the years of black slavery. About every other race claiming special treatment, well, that I have yet to figure out.)
