Huh? What are you smoking? Please paste in the part of the Constitution that asserts this.
To: george wythe
That option was not available during the communist era to anyone Actually it was. Bribery and connections could work miracles. And that's in effect the same as few (emphasis on "few") private colleges and universities here. How many are there anyway? I know only of Hillsdale College, and recall some mentions in Hillsdale's publication IMPRIMIS of one other such college. I think the requirements of exclusion are strict: not one student may be accepting a penny of any kind of federal assistance.

I suppose the way to go on this decision, as far as determining whether it is a victory at some level, or a defeat, is to listen to the talk shows tonight and see who is upset. If the racist blacks such as Terrell and Barron and Jesse Jackass think it's a victory for them, we're in trouble. If they are upset about the decision, then we have probably made progress. I know it seems silly, but it is an amazingly accurate gauge...if the RATs are mad, we've done something right and vice versa.

This is going to send lower courts into a spin -- O'Conner's idiot opinion says "its okay to discriminate, but not too much," a totally undefined line. What a mess this will create- Lower courts will be interpreting this all over the place.

"I fond [sic] your statement ill-conceived at best, and flat oput [sic] ignorant at worst."Thanks for pointing out my typos, I avoided pointing your "arivees", but that's just me I guess.
If that's what you consider "personal insults" I would join a different forum.
"Our diversity truly used to be our strength, because all of the different groups that came together as Americans added something to the culture and BECAME AMERICAN. Not black, white, green, purple, Irish, Italian, Jewish, Catholic, short, fat, male, female. AMERICAN. You know -- the greatest country in the world."
Was this before or after we decided that blacks and women were American enough to vote?

Kaching.

I don't think it works that way on this forum.........LOL.
It was nice of you to try though. :-)

First off...I don't call anyone ignorant on ANY forum. But I guess that's just me. I'm not sure what you mean by my "arrivees," but whatever.
Blacks and women voting is a red herring. I believe that only property owners should vote. Does that make me racist?
Unfortunately, you're part of the problem. You're fixated on race.
To: ModernDayCato
I'm not sure what you mean by my "arrivees,"Since you took the time to point out my typos, I was just returning the favor.
P.S. according to you it's "arivees".

I believe that only property owners should vote. I'd like to further narrow that - anyone who receives, as an individual, Federal money should not be allowed to vote.
To: Revolting cat!
Actually it was. Bribery and connections No, it was not.
Bribery and connections is not the same as refusing to accept money from the federal government.
Bribery and connections will always be available to anyone who wants to enter UMichigan law school.
That's a false analogy, comparing immoral actions with principled actions.
To: Luis Gonzalez
Uh...that wasn't my post you're referring to.
To: george wythe
Uh, the undergrad system that was struck down does not explicitly imply that race can't be used as an admissions factor. That's not a win in any book. You will see race used as a factor at the undergrad level without a codified system. An admissions committee will be given a stack of applications and will be told they can use race as a factor in their decision so long as no point system is used.
Here's a likely scenario:
Committee member A:
"This candidate is black from State X and brings a view of the world that other undergrads will find broadening".
Committee member B:
"The candidate that I am looking at is white from our home state and has a track record of academic achievement".
Committee member A:
"Yes, but the State X candidate will diversify the background of this year's class."
Committee member B:
"I agree."
Where is the point system? Where is there a quota? Answer: there isn't one. The admissions director will need only be careful as to the overall SAT average of the entering class. So if too many poorly prepared applicants are admitted and this drags down overall SAT averages, then it's time to weight academic performance until an SAT average overall goal is reached.
Sadly such a system will not stop with the admissions process but will continue through to graduation.

I'm sure the men and women serving our country in Iraq would be happy to know that you think they should be denied the right to vote.

What the leftists said on yesterday's talk shows:
Great post I just heard the same on Limbaugh's show, after you posted it. Great minds think alike.

Yeah you're right. I usually go by the rule of doing the opposite of what liberals say. You can expect definite outrage by Barron, although he won't get the press that Jackson does.

"Unfortunately, you're part of the problem. You're fixated on race."It's funny.
You have leveled more insults at me throughout this thread than I at you, but in typical "victim mentality" fashion, you turn the whole thing around.
I am not fixated on race...YOU however are.
It was you after all, who claimed that racial diversity was going to bring down the culture and the nation.
I've been arguing that you are wrong.
