>> Here's yet another thing that's bugging me about the Democrats' [2000] convention. It's that the Democrats think that they're the only ones that stand for or believe in civil rights. <<

Yeah, it's amazing when you listen to snooty leftists "conservatives have ALWAYS been on the wrong side of civil liberties" "We believe in equality and fairness, I was raised a Democrat because OUR party supports civil rights for all Americans"

It's like these loonies are living in an alternative reality and have never read a history book. Perhaps they claim explain why the GOP immediately disowns ANY white-supermistist Klansman discovered in the party (see David Duke, who has now left the party in disgust-- good riddence) whereas the 'RAT party not only plays down the hate-crimes of white-supremist Klansman in the party, but EMBRACE them as "party leaders" and proclaim them the conciense of the Seante (see Hugo Black & 'Sheets' Byrd) Maybe they can explain why the 'RAT party has sent decades trying to dillute and splinter the black vote in their primary while Republicans have always encouraged blacks to vote in their primaries. Why Democrats appoint their RICH (I thought they hated "the rich") buddies to top positions and give token black officials third-tier jobs, whereas Republican adminstrations often appoint qualified blacks to the best positions. I could go on and on and on...

The media tends to omit the detail that David Duke ran as a Democrat (and I believe as a candidate in another party) before he ran as a Republican. I don't think it looks good on us that he got on the ballot as a Republican (can the party stop a potential candidate from running the primary?).

If people cross party lines to vote in the primary (like is permissible in Texas) it is possible to get some bad candidates in the general election (makes it easier to defeat them).
